Mary Worth 388

Mary, it's so good of you to tell Lynn that her relationship with her father is horrible. I'm sure Lynn really is encouraged by your empathy. Before you know it, Lynn will want to come home and live at Charterstone with all your other trophies.

Today's Full Strip.

  1. You know how Josh at the Comic Curmudgeon likes to joke that Archie is written by a computer? I think the same could be said of Mary Worth. "He has a pleasant face. He looks very approachable." NOBODY TALKS LIKE THAT. The Moybot apparently needs to update her dialogue software.

  2. Lynn's ever-changing ponytail really disturbs me. It looks like the handle on a curling stone.

  3. who is that geeky dude hovering in the background --- and what in the world is that on his tshirt? It looks like a fluorescent squashed turtle! He does NOT look approachable.

  4. So Mary says the person in the photo has a pleasant face and looks approachable. She could say the same thing about Ted Bundy. It's a totally pointless observation. I don't know how she does it, but Moy continues to achieve monumentally new levels incompetence with each new strip. One possible explanation is that she writes in Chinese and then has it filtered through Chinese to Aborigine to English translation software.

  5. Why is it that the background extras in Mary Worth are seemingly having much more fun than the main characters. They all have a pleasant face and looks approachable. Carefree park walkers, glib hospital visotors, and happy skating arena attendees. This says a lot about Karen Moy's characterizations of her main people.

  6. Ahh, December in Lake Tranquil. Green trees, green grass...like a walk along New Country Road...

  10. Diving — I believe that fellow in the background is Preston J. Quigley, inventor of the Miracle Thaw™ Defrosting Tray (as seen on TV). He's testing out a prototype of his newest product, the Miracle Thaw™ Defrosting Shirt® (patent pending). That flourescent squashed turtle is actually a package of semi-frozen creamed corn.

  11. Lynn continues to take perverse satisfaction in toying with Mary's pathogical NEED TO KNOW. In the past two weeks, Mary has made every effort to pry into Lynn's personal life:

11/29 "Why was she so upset at seeing that young man's photo?"
    12/01 "What just happened now?"
    12/03 "What's that?"
    12/08 "Yes, who is it?"
12/09 "I don't understand what happened but I want to know more."
    12/11 "What do you mean?"

How long will it take before Lynn's evil plan of resistance results in Mary's final descent into madness?

  12. I think the background man is a grown-up Harry Potter with the Hogwarts crest on his shirt.
