The worst thing about placid Lake Tranquil's state-of-the-art skating rink? Late comers who have to climb over everybody (and I mean everybody) to get to their seats.
Yeah, I don't like where this is going. Moy lulled us into a false sense of ennui with this figure skating crap, when all the while she had planned to take us on a frightening and unexpected turn into a commentary on elder abuse.
As long as we're taking unexpected turns, I hope that this ends with Mary in a coma (perhaps miraculously waking right before they pull the plug, but with AMNEISIA!), Lynn on Law & Order-style trial for assault with a deadly ice skate, Lynn turning into The Hulk, or perhaps all of the above.
I really, really like the expression on Mary's face in this strip. She looks like the rest of the hapless cast USUALLY looks when SHE's meddle-mouthing. Whoooeee! Testify, Lynnn!
C'mon now. Moy puts most of the story inside an ice rink. What's an artist to do? I'm sure Uncle Joe has better things to do than draw three dimensional seats. At least I hope he does. Do you think maybe his heart isn't in it? I predict his work to slowly deteriorate into stick figures.
Lynn has issues, none of them can be dealt with by knocking Mary's latte out of her withered hands. We have been visiting Lake Tranquil for how long now, and Mary has yet to unpack. Did Mary even remember she has New Years Eve reservations back at the Bum Boat with Jeff? Hurry home, Mary, cause at midnight, Ian is going to show "Scotland" in the Charterstore rec room!
Don't be shy! I'd love to hear what you have to say about Mary Worth. Just keep it clean, that's all I ask. This is a FAMILY FRIENDLY blog. I don't want to moderate comments, but I will if I have to.
The look on Mary's face in the first panel reads like: "Whoa, how have I not noticed before that this girl is psychotic?"
