Mary Worth 497

If it were possible to assess the quality of a marriage, or an individual's impact on a relationship, based on just two or three sentences, I'd have to say this one is as bad and as irrational as when Mary and Jeff were having their issues. Fortunately, with a slight change of the drapes to fuchsia, things will be patched up in no time.

I have to say it's been a little jarring to see so much yellow fabric over the last few days. I thought fifth grader Beatrice Chestnut, coloring artist, was reserving that exclusively for Toby's hair and jaundiced skin tones.

  1. Push her Larry! PUSH HER!!!

  2. Maybe he should just start calling her "Queenie". Then everything will be all right again, I just know it.

  3. Uh oh! Note Lawrence's surname - Jonis. Sounds like Jonas, doesn't it. You know how Mary is with her thinly veiled names (Kelrast, Amalfi, Confey). Change the "i" to an "a" and you have the Jonas Brothers. Del is married to one of the Jonas Brothers and he is about to go on tour with Miley Cyrus. Del is getting sick of all that touring. I don't blame her at all. Do you? Time for Vicki, CTD, and the rest of you Brockdalians to weigh in.

  4. Looks like a May-December marriage. Perhaps Toby and Ian can be of some assistance here?

Anon: That is an unusual last name, alright! Not sure what to make of it yet. **LoL, "Brockdalians", I love it! :)**

Ladies--i.e. any of us who have ever worn headbands--LOOK at Delilah in panel one! That thing wouldn't stay on five minutes perched like that! Maybe D. is just feeling cranky from wearing something so annoying uncomfortable day after day.

  5. Vicki: good call on the headband. That is definitely falling off within her next ten steps. Unless it's one of those toothy headbands... yike.

  6. Judging by the delicate foreshadowing that MW is known for, I'm guessing that the kid in the picture will be significant.

  7. I have been out of touch since my internet connection has been down. I am at the library now catching up. I just want to tell Wanders that I love Etta James. Good pick! I can hardly wait to see what issues trouble Delilah.

  8. Del looks like an optical illusion. Do you see a lovely young lady...or an old crone?!

  9. As Vicki pointed out, hopefully Toby can give Delilah advice on dealing with an ancient husband. But Mary's not going to like that. She just spent months being shunted aside, and now this! What's an angry senior citizen with too much advice and meddling expertise supposed to do?

  10. Magada 57-- Oh, yes, how could I forget those plastic, "tortoise shell" toothy headbands!? Takes me back to about sixth grade! I recall, though, sometimes an ill-fitting one would dig in behind the ear area and hurt after awhile. I would usu. take mine out before school was over. The poor ladies of Santa Royale never seem to quite know WHAT to do with their hair! Except our Mary, of course.

  11. Brian, I know that optical illusion and you're right! Very funny!

BaHa, I hope you're right about the photo being a kid. I was wondering if it was an intrusive mother-in-law, because the Jonis residence is in the valley, not in Santa Royale, so Lawrence may actually have a mother.

  13. Delilah could never fit all the patio furniture on the "Jonis" Brothers tour bus, hence the curent situation.

Larry Jonis is a bit too old for poor D, don't we think?

Ah the headband, it must be from D's Star Trek play group. Look I'm Geordi! Now its i kicky headband!

  14. I expect, being from the valley, Delilah has the appropriate accent...

    "Don't push me Lawrence...
I mean, like, gag me with a spoon.
    Totally."

Don't be shy! I'd love to hear what you have to say about Mary Worth. Just keep it clean, that's all I ask. This is a FAMILY FRIENDLY blog. I don't want to moderate comments, but I will if I have to.
