Mary Worth 858

"Jeff, I've waited a long time for a wedding, too, but I'll settle for your daughter's. At least it will give me a chance to meddle in someone else's affairs."

Today's Full Strip

  1. OK, this is freaking me out on so many levels:
    - that clown in the striped shirt has no two profiles the same,
    - he looks pretty damn shady,
    - would anyone in their right mind ask Mary to help manage anything?
    - that broad is a doctor?
No, really, this is some sad joke you;re all having with me, and I'm afraid.

    p.s. word verification: Chesters!

  2. When did Mary and Jeff move right in front of the window? Wait, why are the curtains on the outside of the window?

  3. Jeff has proposed to Mary multiple times, I think. But she isn't ready to settle down. I have no idea what she's waiting for.

  4. She's waiting for a well written story, in other words, until hell freezes over.

  5. Maybe she's waiting for that buzzy feeling. I suspect Ron Amalfi made her feel buzzy; maybe she's holding out for a seafood-loving Ron Amalfi.

  6. How can a story line be built around Mary's helping with the wedding? Will there be a week devoted to picking out invitations? Deciding who to invite? Choosing the, uh, venue? Wrapping favors for the reception? The mind boggles.

  7. This story should wrap up with a Valentine's Day wedding, which leaves Mary plenty of time to save the struggling relationship of a bridesmaid, family member, or someone else invited to the wedding. Like Drew!

  8. @heydave -- me, too!!

That must be some kind of DEMON BREW in those cups, the way they've been pouring out steam for like three days! And yeah, curtains on the outside of the house???

  9. Birdie: Love is not for Mary.

Tony: A week dedicated to picking out invitations?! We could be so lucky!

  10. @ Vicki: I think you're right about a demon brew. Their steaming cups of Bovril beef extract are so delicious, they can barely pull them away from their mouths as they are speaking. If that's not the work of a demon, I don't know what is.

I hate to be repetitive, but curtains on the outside of the house?!?!?! Now that's a new low for Giella.

  11. I think I figured out the curtains part. Mary and Jeff have decided to drink their coffee and have their conversation while perched on the ledge outside the window. They're trying to keep their conversation private from the HAL9000 (or is that the MOY9000) computer.

  12. Well, on a good note, at least B?B?J? has a wedding to buy a dress for!

  13. The awkward way Mary and Jeff are holding their mugs in this panel reminds me of the way pandas hold bamboo branches. I hope they're careful not to spill the ever-steaming liquid, because I don't want to watch Mary clean for days on end.

  14. Mary obviosly has had a window installed between her dining room and living room. It's the latest fad at Charterstone.

  15. the reason there is a window shot is because there being watched TED CONFEY is out of jail and he wants his queenie and her family DESTROYED!!!!!

  16. Ted Convey or Cousin Richie's killer?

Wouldn't that make an entertaining story? Mary goes about planning Adrian's wedding. BUT WE KNOW that she is being followed by someone who wants to kill her! No harm would come to Mary, of course. Like Tweety bird, she would be completely unaware that she's escaped danger at every turn.

  17. Tony, what do you mean "How can a storyline be built around Mary helping with the wedding?" It's already taken three days for Mary and Jeff to drink a cup of coffee. Compared to that, a week of picking out wedding invitations will be the equivalent of a high-speed car chase.

  18. I think that Mary is fishing for another marriage proposal from Jeff. Maybe they will get married and live happily ever after and the story will be over? NOT!

  19. Dave in Parma and Anonymous: You're right about the excitement value of Mary's being a wedding planner, compared with the recent "action." What could I have been thinking?

Don't be shy! I'd love to hear what you have to say about Mary Worth. Just keep it clean, that's all I ask. This is a FAMILY FRIENDLY blog. I don't want to moderate comments, but I will if I have to.
