Mary Worth 1,016

This is like, what, their second date? And they're already planning a weekend away together? First of all, Mary Worth and I do not approve of that. Still, I am dying to know where Liza wants Drew to take her. Wouldn't it be awkward if they went to the Heaven's Orchard Resort in Northern Santa Royale and ran into Drew's sister still on her honeymoon?

  1. This is just getting silly. Is Drew so spineless that he can never say no? My vote is with the two background people in the featured panel, who are fleeing for their lives.

  2. Did they duck into the rest rooms at Denny's to change their clothes after dinner? And who needs a weekend away after a few lame dates?

  3. The Orange Suit of Severity returns!

  4. I am wondering just how many dates Liza and Drew have really had. I can't tell if it's many or just one long one? In either case, Liza is still pathetic.

  5. Anon@9.21a - yes, Liza is pathetic but Dr Drew is even worse.

  6. Now the sun's up and the streets are busy as they emerge from Denny's after their 9pm dinner. They must've stayed for a Grand Slam breakfast.

  7. I see what Liza's doing here. Jerry tried this with a woman on Seinfeld, using a weekend getaway to "move a relationship into Phase Two."

According to Jerry, a weekend getaway "speeds up the intimacy level. It's like putting the relationship in a time compressor. Where we would be six months from now we accomplish
    in three days"

  8. We need Mary to explain to Liza that Nice Girls don't boss their men around, they meekly wait for their men to tell them what to do. This still doesn't explain why Drew, the Two-Timing Man Ho, has turned into the Man With No Spine.

  9. Liza's awfully forward, isn't she? This kind of behavior is frowned upon in Santa Royale. Only wives go away for the weekend with their husbands.

  10. Woah! Who smashed in Liza's face? And what's with the puny little hand Drew holds up to fend off this she-devil? I can honestly say that I've seen more sophisticated and intricate artwork on Southpark.

  11. Considering ther long history together, Drew wants to let her down easy.

  12. The panel becomes far more interesting if you imagine that the puny little hand belongs to someone lying on the sidewalk, reaching up to Dr. Drew in a desperate plea for help. Maybe it's Richie's killer. Or a passed out Jill Black.

  13. LiZa: "We need a weekend away!!"
Dr Drew: "How about Ciudad Juárez?"

  14. lol @ Graham and Punky !!!!

Gotta love that deer-in-the-headlights look that Drew has.

When is Mary going to appear? And how long will it be until Liza boils Drew's bunny?

  15. Geesh, Drew, why don't you just tell her you have to wash your hair?

  16. What is going on? First we have Wilbur lurking around his daughter and now stalker LiZa. What's with these creepy storylines? Does Moy want out of her contract or something?

Mary Worth is getting so awful it makes me want to "explioed" [my verification word]

  17. Drew and his sister Adrian are total nitwits, plain and simple!
If there was EVER proof Mary just "dates" Jeff for coffee, sailboat rides, and free dinners, this is IT! "The apples don't fall far from the tree."

  18. Moy has a contract??? I figured she did it for free.

  19. I am so with you, @Punky 7:49 am. And Drew is looking horrified in panel 2, but can he speak up for himself? NO!

That other man in panel 1 has some kind of weird shoe - it almost looks like it has wheels. He can't wait to get away from those two, along with those people in panel 2.

  20. @Graham...how about Abu Ghraib?

  22. dont you have to be in a commited relationship to wear the orange suit of doom ? ted confey never wore a orange suit thats how we knew he was a bad guy.

  23. Oh. Good Lord. The female Aldo Kelrast rides again! Think she'll suffer the same fate as Aldo when Drew tells her he's not interested in more dates, let alone a weekend away?

On that note, Dawn, you and Cathy can come out any day now.

Don't be shy! I'd love to hear what you have to say about Mary Worth. Just keep it clean, that's all I ask. This is a FAMILY FRIENDLY blog. I don't want to moderate comments, but I will if I have to.
