Mary Worth 1,020

Actually, I'm pretty impressed with this reflection. Best I've seen in years. Of course, the part in his hair may be wrong. But I like how Mr. Giella has hidden Drew's hands just perfectly in order to pull off the reflection consistently.

The big question I have is how should Drew break up with Liza. Punky suggested Post-it Notes yesterday. That seems appropriate since they've only been on two dates that I can count. But she does like texting, so perhaps that is best...

Today's Full Strip

  1. Is that a tie or a belt? I hope Drew's not planning on taking the coward's way out.

  2. Those peace village reports ain't gettin' done by themselves, slacker!

    But where's Mary?
    Is she on Facebook yet?
What color is Wilbur's sandwich today?
    Is Dawn still dad-creepy?

  3. "Now that my ponderous thought process has finally figured out that Liza is nuts, I will have to take another several days to figure out how to break up with her. Thinking is so HARD!"

  4. What exactly is Drew's type? A positive? O negative? B slacker? That's right, heydave, the reports aren't getting done and neither are either of those slugs' shifts at Mountview.

  5. The reflection is pretty good but it almost looks like Drew's hands are coming *out* of the mirror. Did anyone else see the movie "Prince of Darkness"? Just such a thing happened in that the demons started to come out of the mirror...scary stuff.

  6. You are so right, Wanders - and I'm guessing that this newfangled text messaging device is going to figure very prominently as the rest of this dreary storyline unfolds. "Where R U? Y R U ignoring my calls?" and so forth.

I am still chuckling over Karen with a K's comment from last week: "Look at the time - I'm late for Vietnam!" Perhaps Drew will finally head back there, to escape LiZa's clutches. And texts.

  7. I see LiZa, in the future, sitting at her kitchen table, drinking a big bottle of ketchup.

  8. Somehow I don't think "prudently" should be considered in Dr Drew's plan to break up with Liza. And neither should "subtle", "good taste", "timely", or any other word normally used with a stable personality.

If Dr Drew tries to be "prudent", rather than "rash", this silly story is going to last for a long time.

  9. I'm sure Liza will be happy if Drew tells her, "We can still be friends." (Or maybe "BFF's") That usually works.

  10. Teacher Patti--the hands look like they're coming out of the mirror, because it isn't a mirror, but a door (think William Shatner going 'psshhh--psshhh' to open the window/door in Spaceballs 2).

It looks to me like Clark Kent is coming at Dr. Drew with a tie to strangle him.

Lastly, I'd find it really interesting if Lizzzza doesn't even work at the hospital, but just shows up there in scrubs to stalk husband material.

  11. Couldn't Drew & Jeff have discussed the Peace Village reports by Skype, back when he was in Vietnam? Being that Jeff is all modern and hep to the scene, with his e-reader and all?

  12. I picture Drew and his dad sitting at their table in the man cabin, poring over the "Vietnamese-to-English" translation dictionary they checked out from the Santa Royale Public Library. It takes all weekend to look up that many words, doncha' know!
Meanwhile....WHAT to do about LiZa!? My crystal ball tells me she is NOT the type gal whose feelings are easily hurt, hehehe... Drew's texting machine is about to go into nuclear meltdown!

  13. Hmmm, my crystal ball tells me that LiZa is about to launch an all-out nuclear attack. Watch out, Charterstone!!

  14. I think LiZa and Jill Black need to hit the single's bars together and go on a manhunt.

  15. I think Elaine @ 12:14 is right. LiZa is not going to take a "letting-down-easy" lightly. She may start with a massive texting campaign ("But we R so right 4 each other!"), but Drew will ignore her and she will become enraged. Drew, I wouldn't take any baths, if you know what I mean.

  16. Do you suppose there is a class at the University of Comics called "Drawing Black Hair Using Blue Markers"?

  17. Yes, and I know who got an A!

  18. LiZa and Jill Black at a single's bars together:

Guy in salmon-colored jacket: "My buddies over there bet that I wouldn't be able to start a conversation with the two most beautiful girls in the room."
    Jill: "What a crock!"
LiZa: "I'm attracted to your confidence! Sit."

  19. I bet Dr. Drew heads back to Vietnam to get out of Chartertel Wirelss' coverage area so he can avoid the "I can change Drew" texts.

  20. In the spirit of Mary Worth and her aversion to electronic devices...I suggest that Drew send LiZa news of the break-up by telegram.

"Dear LiZa. Stop. I am just not that into you. Stop. Not yours, Drew. Stop."

  21. (And another thing!) Why do so many homes in Santa Royale have those awful tiled dropped ceilings? Gives them that cozy feel of an unrenovated dorm room.

  22. hey drew was at adrians wedding which was like last year. but now he wants to talk about peace village . plus why in todays panal he has that i guess its dirt on his face ? is liza underwater somewhere ?

  23. Dave in Parma...I would LOVE it if LiZa didn't work there after all...like maybe she's an escaped mental patient who wanders around in scrubs. There was an episode of ER like that, I think...someone claimed to be some big doctor but was in fact a patient.

  24. Liza is such a hussy!
