Does Liza have time to go to the diner across the street? Of COURSE she has time. She has hours to hang out and talk with Mary about the second warning she received from the head nurse about never actually working.
Perhaps LiZa's warnings were to keep her from working! After all, she can't have worked more than a few hours in her whole career, and I'm sure her nursing skills are rusty. They are probably paying her to just keep her hands off the patients.
I think Syndi's pinned it down, time-wise. A week or so at the diner - meanwhile, a lifetime to us - and Mary will have gotten Liza off Drew's back and have given her a new dedication to her job.
Problems solved and on to the next lame-o Karen Moy storyline.
Wow, Liza must really be down in the dumps. She can't even muster the energy for a thought-balloon zinger at the end of her sentences to tell us what she's really thinking.
There, there, Liza, I'll help you: "And I could use a shoulder to cry on." [... even if the shoulder is attached to boring old busybody like you! ...]
LiZa has to learn that while Drew might not be the right guy for her, somewhere out there is a guy that will adore her clingy ways, and give her that strange, buzzy feeling. Does Mary know any other bachelors?
My word verification was ''nondolex''. Sounds like another fine product from the folks that brought us Kelk. May cause nausea, heartburn, or diarrhea. Ask your doctor about Nondolex today!
To save costs at Santa Royale , all toilet stalls have access doors either side. Enter through the ladies door , hey presto! Signs on the back of cubicle doors will request occupant to leave by the same door.
I think that Mary will solve the problem by advising LIZA to go to Vietnam. After all if it cured Drew of his womanizing ways, it may do wonders for Liza's issues as well. If only Aldo had known of the healing environment of the far east....
This may not end well for Mary. After all, LiZa has a tendency to fall in love at the drop of a hat. Mary's looking far too alluring in that clingy purple dress and hospital jacket.
Dave in Parma, Liza may be in trouble for snooping in HR files to find out Drew's birthday. Either that, or some guy in Room Whatever died of something a couple days ago while Liza was texting.
I'm confused about the passage of time -- has the dinner at Dr. Bailey's already happened?
Hmmm....here we have a doctor, who presumably is in a position of authority over the nursing staff. Considering that she was used and immediately dropped by the good doctor, I would say that she has a good case for a sexual harassment lawsuit. Afterall, the relationship took place almost entirely on hospital grounds. She can also claim that she is being threatened with job termination because of their relationship. Have Liza call me. I'll take her case pro bono.
Phoebes is right...it will seem like a lifetime to us as Mary and LiZa sit down for a cup of coffee.
Methinks Mary will launch into her "Let me tell you a story...," which in itself lasts a week, where she'll talk about how she was an infatuated bobbysoxer back in the roaring 40s, she latched on to this guy who wanted nothing to do with her, and he grew up to by John F. Kennedy. Or something.
"Lonavag" was my word. LOL.... the possibilities are endless for that one, but I think it might be found next to Maude Findlay's "Nondolex."
@James- Hmm, ''Lonavag'' sounds like something LiZa will be needing, soon. Poor Jill Black has been on that bitter pill for years. And, for the spinster set, like our own beloved (hic!) Helen Clark, there's now ''Foreverlonavag'', in extra strength!
I am still upset that we were not invited to Dr.Baileys dinner party.
Now Mary and LiZa will do to the diner and eat pie, and LiZa will tell Mary some dumb story of being jilted on her wedding day...oh wait, that already happened.
During this endless blabbing on by LiZa, Mary will regret that she didn't have a Kindle in her purse to entertain her.
But, who gave LiZa the warning?Administrator Jill?
@Mary: Hopefully we haven't missed the dinner with Dr. Koop, er, Bailey. I'm looking forward to the salmon square appetizers and seeing if Jill Black will be a guest at the cocktail party.
Aren't breaks (other than lunch) usually just 15 minutes? Pray tell... how can LiZa walk across the street to the diner, peruse the pie menu, order coffee, then consume said food and drink items, talk to Mary about whatever mean supervisor made her cry...and be back on duty in Jane Doe's room on the third floor---in just 15 minutes!!??
Vicki, I had the same idea. I figure that Liza will get her 3rd and final reprimand when she returns back to her station because she is late coming back from her break. I hope she has a backup plan... or is Drew plan B?
How funny, Maude - I was just thinking about Helen Clark (sad but true). I was musing on the fact that the only vivid, fun characters in this strip have been the lushes. Well, I don't know how vivid and fun Lonnie Roberts was, but Helen and Jill certainly made their impressions on us.
Don't be shy! I'd love to hear what you have to say about Mary Worth. Just keep it clean, that's all I ask. This is a FAMILY FRIENDLY blog. I don't want to moderate comments, but I will if I have to.
A clue: The woman on the rest room door has a floating head.
ReplyDeleteTouch it, touch it!

ReplyDeleteCoffee in the diner solved all Jill's problems, so I'm sure Mary will straighten LiZa out as well....

I wonder what kind of pie they'll order this time.

Based on the perspective, it looks like the mens room door opens into the ladies room as well.
ReplyDeletePerhaps Drew has spoken with the head nurse, suggesting that the hospital could benefit from LiZa's absence.
ReplyDeleteThe question is: how does Mary know Liza? Does Mary Worth know *every* *single* *person* in Santa Royale???
ReplyDeleteOops, my bad. OF COURSE she does!
Of course Mary knows everyone at the hospital. She's the head candystriper, afterall.

ReplyDeletePossible "plot" (and I use the term loosely) direction:
ReplyDelete--Liza to Mary: "Who are you and how do you know my name?!"
--or, Mary, thining how she can neatly solve Dr. Drew's porblem to Liza: "You poor dolt--you're in the wrong line of work. Of course you should quit."
The big question though, unless i missed it, is if Liza is in trouble with HR for work incompetence, or stalking other hospital employees.
ReplyDeleteWould laugh if she tells mary--"no time to go across the street. Can you just send me a text?"
Can't anyone see that this woman is mentally ill and in serious need of professional invervention. Liza also needs help.
ReplyDeleteThis may not end well for Mary. After all, LiZa has a tendency to fall in love at the drop of a hat. Mary's looking far too alluring in that clingy purple dress and hospital jacket.

OMG, am I in the mood for pie!
