Mary Worth 1,097

Well, I go to the beach for a couple of days, and when I come back, the story seems stalled. However, the setting is moving forward so I figure I'll just go with it. I'm glad to see they're back in Diner, though, because it's been on my mind. As we were passing through Seaford, Delaware, we came across this fine eating establishment:

  1. Gina isn't even making a pretense of working anymore. She just plunks down in the booth in her waitress get-up and keeps blabbing with Mary. Maybe the angry diner manager will take their order.

  2. Please! Tell me you went in the Diner and found a real life Gina!
And she was touching her face!!

  3. To Gina-the-commenter from Friday's post, maybe Gina-the-lamster's mother looks gleeful because she's getting out NYC and settling in lovely Santa Royale, where nothing REALLY bad ever happens.

And to all of those who think this is a scam to separate Mary-from-her-money, you might be right.

Oh, and doesn't ANYONE in the Worthiverse actually work? I mean, put in the long, hard hours having a job generally means having to do?

  4. That diner photo is so perfect! I hope there is a real life Gina in there, not-working.

Gina had no choice but to sit down with Mary, after she saw the desperation in Mary's eyes yesterday. And after Mary's giant cruel hand of fate reached out and grabbed her arm. Maybe Mary just needs to get out more...

  5. It must take forever to get your food in ''Diner''.

''You want a grilled cheese sandwich, with bacon, fries on the side and a Dr. Pepper...So, as you were saying...You wanted a grilled cheese sandwich, with bacon, fries on the side and a Dr. Pepper... I'm sorry, we have no Dr. Pepper, is root beer OK? OK, let me see...You wanted a grilled cheese sandwich, with bacon, fries on the side and a Dr. Pepper, but there is no Dr. Pepper...''

The look on Mrs. Gina's Mom's face is priceless. You'd think she was the next contestant on The Price Is Right!

  8. Now exactly how many people under a witness protection program would talk about it to a relative stranger in a public venue such as Diner? Either Gina is making it all up or she ain't the brightest bulb in Diner no matter how dimly lit it may be.

For all Gina knows, Mary herself could be a Mafia plant....After all, she is a widow who was left in comfortable circumstances by her late husband. How many widows can live 50..60..70 years comfortably? She hasn't aged a day so just imagine the cost outlay for plastic surgery alone! And don't forget the outome of the one person who dared crossed her path; Aldo Kelrast. Remember how his brakes mysteriously "failed" after his altercation with Mary? Gina better be watching her step....

  9. I wonder if Gina's employee discount applies to everything Mary scarfs down. Meanwhile, back at the hospital, Dr. Drew Corey (remember him?) is devastated because Mary no longer eats lunch with him in the cafeteria.

  10. Mary is still waiting for her Royale with Cheese.

  11. Prediction- one day this week (hopefully THIS week & not several weeks from now!)there will be a strip featuring a panel with two ''wise guys'', sitting in a booth at ''Diner'', who ''accidentally'' overhear Gina blabbing the family secret to Mary. These men will then have a 2-3 week storyline, where they discuss how their long search for the Baroni family is over, and how ''The Boss'' will be pleased. They will then send a hitman after the last surviving member of the Baroni family, our Gina. That hitman will be...Bobby Black! Oh, the irony!

Once he sees his target is his long-lost childhood sweetheart, he will be unable to harm her, so he will turn state's witness against the mob, marry Gina and whisk her away to some other town, both of them safe in the witness protection program- that is, until Gina opens her big yap to some meddling old woman again!

  12. Actually, I like Maude@1.46p. It shows a real sense of imagination not normally seen in a Karen Moy-storyline.

  13. It could be that these people are reacting to the earthquake, or maybe they have just heard about Gina's plight!!

  14. Ginas father: It was a gruesome murder and we have to leave town.

Ginas Mother: California? I can't wait. The warm weather, TV stars...

Ginas father: We have to change our names, hide forever.

Ginas Mother: I can go on Password Plus, visit Knotts Berry farm, see celebrities...

Gina: I'l going to stay here with this IKEA halogen lamp and hope it doean't make the cheap drapes catch fire.

    Ginas father: Oh brother...

  15. As I was saying before I so rudely ended our conversation and did my best to escape your prying grasp.....

They had to change their names, identities, etc., although oddly enough, Gina never changed her hairstyle. Any mobster worth their salt could see that rigid ponytail a mile away.

  17. Hey, if GINA was her name BEFORE and they all had to change their names, why is her name still GINA?

I was thinking of this all thru rehearsal tonight and totally blew my part.

  18. Not actually working at their jobs seems to be a real problem for the Santa Royale workforce. Everyone has LOADS of time - on the job or off - to whine to Mary about the various cruel blows fate has dealt them. Meanwhile, their customers, patients, etc. do a slow burn trying to get some service.

I say, elminiate Mary and eliminate the problem.

Don't be shy! I'd love to hear what you have to say about Mary Worth. Just keep it clean, that's all I ask. This is a FAMILY FRIENDLY blog. I don't want to moderate comments, but I will if I have to.
