Mary Worth 1,099

"Bobby's words sank deep in my heart. From that moment on, I swore I would never change. And, that, Mary, is why I still wear this ponytail."

  1. I guess I am wondering why he is calling her 'Gina'? Didn't she have to change her name?

  2. And why is Bobby looking dumber and dumber every time we see him? Is this like Flowers for Algernon, except he was never that smart to begin with?

  3. Ya don't suppose: Despite her aversion to the Interwebs, Mary will go online and track down Bobby for Gina. Or maybe get Toby or Dawn to do it. (Gina isn't still in Witness Protection, is she?)

  4. "It won't be the same...maybe I'll glue a ponytail onto my basketball to remember you."

  5. Oh, please let Bobby be Jill's brother! This would so redeem Moy from being so boring!

  6. Oh, please, Elaine@9.38a, nothing can redeem Moy at this point.

The obvious plot point would be to have Jill Black and Bobby Black be related somehow, but I'm willing to bet they're not and that Moy, in searching for a common, WASPy name, forgot she had already used "Black" for Jill.

Also, does Giella work from a "face" template? Notice how Gina looks like Mary?

  7. hmmm...I thought these two had an "innocent" love, so naturally my eyebrows raised just a teensy bit over the "meeting under their favorite tree" part.

I suppose you CAN innocently sit under a tree and talk about basketballs and skateboards and such. Ok, I'll go with that, since this is a family-friendly blog and all...

  8. Why did Bobby change his shirt?

  9. Our feelings reduced to a few last words????? Talk about awkward. How about "We expressed our feelings in a few last words."

  10. Dear Artist: IT IS allright to have your characters look the same two strips in a row. Signed, Chester.

  11. We met under our favorite tree, which was out on Yasgur's farm, but alas, we were a week too early (or thirty years too late?) for Woodstock.

  12. This whole plotline was much better as I re-read it with the theme music from "The Godfather" playing. Not good, but much better.

It could be the lack of sleep though--new baby 12 hours ago!

  13. Congrats Dave in Parma! What's the new one's name ...Gina or Bobby??

  14. Actually, Anon@10:37a, Bobby didn't change his shirt. The stripes move according to his emotions.

    Kind of like a cuttlefish.

  15. Gina is the oldest looking ten year old I've ever seen.

  17. Mike in Cleveland@1:43, my hat goes off to you. You made me laugh harder than I've remembered laughing.

  18. Funny @Mike!

And thanks James and Ultrasviolet--ironically enough, the name is Violet! My wife had it on her list and the kids attached to it.

It would have been Wanders, of course, if it had been a boy.

  19. Thanks Dave. I'm flattered. Congrats.

Don't be shy! I'd love to hear what you have to say about Mary Worth. Just keep it clean, that's all I ask. This is a FAMILY FRIENDLY blog. I don't want to moderate comments, but I will if I have to.
