It was quite courteous of Pam Am to move their boarding gate to Mary Worth's kitchen.
Ding Ding Ding to KitKat who was the first to predict that Mary's "old friend" in New York is Gina Baroni-Black, socialite wife of the famous New York Soccer Team player Bobby Black. Nice of her to visit her former waitress, when she hasn't even once been to see her other "old friend" in New York, the grieving mother of a 9/11 victim. Maybe she'll be able to break away from Gina for just a few minutes to make another phone call.
Just a thought: if you invite someone to accompany you on a trip *while you are already standing at the gate*, that doesn't really count as a heartfelt invitation.
ReplyDeleteIf Gina has invited Mary to New York, that means only one thing: Gina is in need of meddling! Can't wait to see the happy couple again. Since I'm local, as soon as I can get a bead on their location, I volunteer to head off and eavesdrop, and will report back! (Wanders, what a shame that you and your wife just missed them, at the M&Ms store. Gina's sure to bring Mary there!)
Has a guest star ever made a return appearance in "Mary Worth?" Does this mean there is a chance we will see Jill Black again?
ReplyDeleteI hope we get to see Mary go through the complete TSA pat-down and give some lip to security when they confiscate her Polident.
This is my last post. It's been fun. Too bad some people feel the need to direct rude comments towards others and ruin a good thing.
ReplyDeleteIf Gina still sports that ponytail, I am going to weep blood.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen cupboards like that since the days in Diner. Perhaps this is Joe Giella's nod to the reappearance of Gina.
ReplyDeleteWanders, your shout-out to me made my day - thanks! I really am stunned that Gina is the "old friend," though. Karen Moy seems to be consigning the old Santa Royale gang (Wilbur, Dawn, Professor Chinbeard, Dr. Drew, etc.) to Worthiverse oblivion. Even those lovebirds Scott and Adrian get only an offhand mention. (Why is Jeff so essential to helping with "their place"? Do they need someone to sit in one of their chairs?)
So not only do we get to re-visit Gina and Bobby, but we may finally get to catch up with our old friends, Scott and Adrian. Be still, my heart! But I liked the idea mentioned yesterday that Mary is off to visit her friends in A3G - she and Margo would quickly hit it off!
ReplyDeleteDoes today's offering break any kind of record for the most characters being named in a single strip without any of them actually being present?
ReplyDelete@ Thorpnotized.... ??????????
ReplyDeleteI really love how Mary pegs Gina as being eccentric because she forgot to invite her to the party until the last minute.
ReplyDeleteEccentric is the new bad manners.
I certainly hope Mary's flight is better than my last one. I sat next to a woman with white hair and pearl button earrings, and she never shut up. She was only too eager to give me her version of good advice. Hope Mary doesn't sit next to anyone like that.
ReplyDeleteIf I'm not mistaken, the bun- and suit-sporting person at the counter previously worked at Hospital.
ReplyDeleteKitKat, "Do they need someone to sit in one of their chairs?" made me laugh out loud. You're on a roll! And Thorp (I mean, Hodces Dirchnic), I'm not sure what happened, but please don't go.

@thorpnotized - I agree with Sandi Ego and Punky - don't leave us! I'm sure the comment was made in thoughtless haste...
ReplyDelete-Sulfi Ensequal (hey, I like that name so much I think I may have to keep it)
If you look in the left corner, the girl that was kidnapped and wanted swirly ice cream is about to board a Pan Am flight as well!
ReplyDeleteWho could be she talking to on her cellphone/radio?
I also do not understand the Gina/eccentric comment by Mary. Gina is half off her rocker and dumb as a barrel of doorknobs, but not eccentric.
@Punky, I'm local too. Lets stalk Mary!
ReplyDeleteChester, I'll bet we could put together a whole Mary Worth itinerary. If the festivities that Gina has planned allow, I bet she's dying to take in a matinee of Sister Act.
ReplyDeleteSo what do you think is Gina's big occasion? Wedding reception, baby shower, Witness Protection Gala, Soccer Soiree? I hope Mary packed a suitably swanky outfit.
ReplyDeleteOn a more serious note, I would hate to see a regular contributor go. You folks make me laugh every day.
Can someone pleae help me with my place?
ReplyDeleteI would pay Moy up to $100 if Mary arrives at the party and is met at the door by a swingin' Gina, holding a big glass bowl and asking Mary to put her keys in it.
ReplyDeleteI wish Jeff would say, "Oh, OK, Mary, after thinking about it, I would like to go with you after all. Can I just go over here and buy a ticket?
ReplyDeleteTeacherPatti, I'd chip in if it meant Karen Moy would!
ReplyDeletewheres mary get the bucks a last minute ticket would be over a thousand bucks
ReplyDelete@Thorpnotized -- Please don't go! We all want you to STAY!!! Will you reconsider? Your posts are so funny; I know I would miss you a lot!
ReplyDeleteI would just remind Jeff that the last time Mary visited the state of New York, she went um..."skating" with Frank what's-his-name!!
Thorpnotized, stay with us. You make us happy - and it's the only way we know how to be!
ReplyDelete@Thorpnotized I read the comment I think to which you are referring, and I think it truly was meant to be lighthearted. At least, that's how it struck me. Please don't go because of it. You are an important part of my Daily Laugh Regimen!
ReplyDeleteHow is Gina a friend at all, let alone an "old" friend? I think Mary misinterpreted a short letter, something on the lines of, "Hi Mary, just wanted to thank you again for your help. Bobby and I are having a party in a few days to celebrate our six months together. We are so happy. Cheers, Gina." Mary read that and thought it was an invitation, which it wasn't. Hilarity will ensue.
