Mary Worth 1,329

But you should convince your readers, Dawn, because really, Dave broke up with you, life is brutal, your dad wants to fix you by taking you to the empty villa of his best friend whom he has never mentioned, and he's taking two month's leave from the column he writes for the local weekly, and yet manages to pay his rent, your tuition, and your cell phone bill. So, yes, convincing your readers that any of this is even remotely plausible would be kind of nice.

Today's Full Strip

  1. Wilbur is using one of his boilerplate "Ask Wendy" lines on Dawn: "A [fill in the blank] like this will be healing for you." It's on the list of cliches that he'll pass along to Mary.

Dawn's room makes me feel claustrophobic, and having Wilbur parked on the bed doesn't help.

  2. Happpy Summer Solstice, everybody. Which means that, as of tomorrow the days will grow shorter, summer will wane into fall and then winter. So, if you're going to spend summer in Italy, get off the freakin' bed, pack, and leave before the classes you never go to start up again!

  3. perhaps "person" magazine could be profitable if it would sell an ad on the back page. then they would have money to actually print something on the inside pages!

  4. Dawn is a spoiled snot. If she were my daughter, no trip to Italy, no subscription to PERSON magazine, and no paying for her one "class" at LOCAL college.

Get a job, you lazy girl, maybe asking people if they'd like fries with their burger will get you out of your slump.

Yes, life is brutal, Dawn, but much less brutal if you are an active contributor to society.

  5. Unfortunately, I think this is going to evolve into a PSA about suicide. Dawn will attempt, but not succeed, to kill herself. Wilbur will learn warning signs, and Mary will repeat them for us ad nauseum.

  6. That first panel is just...wrong. Makes you want to look away, *shudder* and that's all I'm going to say about THAT!

I'm hoping Mary gets sooo wrapped up in the "Ask Wendy" people's problems that she starts stalking them!! Or... what if this whole thing goes to her head BIG time and she starts referring to herself in the third person!? And then Jeff can't take it anymore and storms out!

  7. Wow, Chester, that's tough love. I would just slap her across the face.

  8. So what great life lesson is Moy going to teach us this time?...the consequences of spoiling our children?..the economic consequences of spending what you can't afford?....the dangers of traveling abroad?....how to treat depression by traveling abroad?...

  9. What magazine is Dawn REALLY reading behind that 'Person Magazine' as she anxiously waits for Wilbur to leave the room?

Meanwhile, we're on day 3 of an empty white block in the paper where 'Ask Wendy' usually appears as Mary frantically tries to figure out how to turn the computer on.

Don't be shy! I'd love to hear what you have to say about Mary Worth. Just keep it clean, that's all I ask. This is a FAMILY FRIENDLY blog. I don't want to moderate comments, but I will if I have to.
