Mary Worth 1,338

Dawn, I realize you are not having a great time on this trip, but you may want to filter some of your moping. This comment would have been better in a thought bubble. Not really something you want to say out loud. To your father. Ever.

  1. Wow. Panels like this one make life in the Worthiverse worth living.

I LOVE where the bottom edge of the panel cuts off our view of David.

  2. I'd be depressed if I had to travel with Wilbur too. I think maybe Dawn was hoping to get him to leave her alone by making that revealing remark.

I can't imagine touring a museum with a guy who, upon seeing Michelangelo's David can only say "A real work of art by Michelangelo!" Did he bother to read anything about the statue's interesting history? Does he even know the name of the statue? Is he really thinking about his next ham sandwich?

  3. What reminds Dawn of Dave is the coldness of his marble heart, right? Right?

Moy couldn't have done this to us on purpose, could she?

  4. oh dear... keep those eyes up Dawn, eyes UP!

Just how much more of this whining is Wilbur going to put up with? And are we going to meet Giorgio any time soon? I understand he's a REAL Italian, from Italy even!

  5. I vote for panel of the year - made me laugh out loud. Now we know what part of the relationship Dawn misses most.

As far as Mary's "people are good at heart" blathering goes does she include Wayne the kidnapper, Convey the fraudster, hippy theives, etc.? She needs to watch this:

  7. This beats Gina's floating head in the clouds. Panel of the year!

Does anyone else think David bears a strong facial resemblance to Steve Martin?

  8. What Dawn meant to say is that like the statue (the real one), Dave has an abnormally large RIGHT HAND.

  9. Kathyo:
You know that the size of a man's hand resembles the size of another part of his statue!

  10. I don't recall that Dave had that awesome a torso...

I've been smiling all day just thinking about this panel. Best. Panel. Ever.

    Life is brutal!

  12. Wow, Dawn. Just... wow.

Michelangelo's David also seems none too happy about the comparison. Actually, he looks downright depressed. It's just probably the side effects of being on Mary Worth.

  13. I can't help but laugh while wondering how far my father would have slapped me if he'd spent a fortune getting me to Italy and I'd made some snide, sarcastic remark like that. Hey, I'd love to go to Florence right now! Not with Wilbur (or Dawn...or Mary, for that matter) but still, a free trip to Europe! Meanwhile Mary is yammering away-of all the horrible jobs they could have offered her, letting her sit there and pound out her nonsense is like giving an alcoholic a job delivering to booze to liquor stores.

  14. Happy Belated Birthday to Mr. Giella!

Never fear, the Azzurri are headed back to Italy heartbroken; maybe they and Dawn can have a pity party. Maybe she and Mario Balotelli will get together! As we saw the other day Mario has a pretty impressive torso himself.

    1) That's what she said.
    2) If not best panel of the year, funniest panel of the year.
    3) When did Michelangelo's David get Ronald McDonald hair?

  16. I've seen David and, Dawn, he's no Dave.
    Ciao!

  17. Monday morning thoughts:

Wilbur and Dawn must be conducting their tour via warp drive or wormhole. Now they're on the beach at Amalfi. They are traveling far too fast for the real world, so they must be bending the Worthiverse space-time continuum to the point of collapse!

...and a note to Mr. Giella. Happy Birthday, and I do not ever want to see Wilbur Weston without a shirt again. Not ever, Ever, EVER! Thank you.

  18. @fauxprof at &:41 AM, thank goodness our intrepid travelers are not on a nude beach. Anyway, I second your observation about time traveling. We can expect that they'll be in the Colosseum tomorrow...wonder what part of that will remind Dawn of Dave.

Meanwhile, back in Santa Royale, Mary's monitor is still reading her drivel back to her, probably.

  19. Oops, make that "at 7:41 AM" (unless "& time" really does denote a rift in the space-time continuum).

  20. Dawn: Unwed, pregnant and forced to listen to Wilbur's inanities. Thrice cursed!

  21. I think the sculpture is a forgery. I don't remember Michelangelo's David having a Toni Home Perm.
