Mary Worth 1,365

Woah! Who is that handsome stranger? Finally, love arrives. I was wondering when that was going to happen.

And fortunately, Dawn caught her face just as it was falling off. Hopefully, she can get it back into place before Mister Handsome notices.

Today's Full Strip

  1. Wilbur must be saved!

  2. Wilbur, along with Blanche DuBois, has always depended on the kindness of strangers.

  3. Are Wilbur's glasses glued to his head?

  4. Thank God -- and Thank the Dave look-alike too!

  5. Unfortunately for Dawn, Mr. Handsome isn't single. His partner is standing right there (panel 2), looking distinctly displeased that Wilbur's getting all the attention.

  6. In the nick of time, Wilbur is saved by Detective Scott Hewlett and his twin brother, Mott! We all remember Scott, right? http://maryworthandme.blogspot.com/search/label/Scott%20Hewlett

  7. Twins! Way too buff to be the ones from Antiques Roadshow....

@fauxprof--I will always love a good "Streetcar" reference. WILBUUUURRR!!!!

The second panel's trite and simpering caption is cloying. And awful. And, of course, expected.

Finally--if The Helpful Twins aren't gay, I hope they don't mind Dawn's freakishly long thumb (Panel 2). It will be great for a honeymoon spent hitchhiking across Europe. (Backpacking can be brutal.)

  8. Oops! Her Freak Thumb is in Panel 1.

  9. Nance@8:58 AM, your reference to the Keno Brothers is a hoot!

  10. With the typical disregard for logic I have come to expect from Karen Moy, somehow Wilbur is "SAVED" by fellow passengers from falling overboard off a sinking ship?? What is he saved from? Other passengers are leaping from this death boat, but this helpful guy reaches out to stop Wilbur from falling overboard... Uh, Wilbur, if the ship goes down, sooner or later you will be in the water. It's time to hunt up some of those swim noodles, I think. . . .

  11. very funny @Nance!

I personally would have found it funnier (in a dark way) if the stranger had reached into Wilbur's jacket and lifted his wallet seconds before he toppled over the railing. Then again, I may not be quite right.

  12. Dave in Parma, I think this story line has unhinged us all.

  13. Wilbur: Ah-Wheh!
    Dawn: Gesundheit!

Can that arm in panel 2 really belong to Dawn?

  14. Cue "My Heart Will Go On" because you know that's the song playing in Dawn's head as she sees this handsome stranger save Wilbur.

Maybe he'll be from a nice, faraway land and he and Dawn will marry. The strip would finally be free of ol' Shemp-head!

  15. PS - I also predict that in 30 years, Dawn will look something like this:

  16. @Mike--I wish I could simply attribute it to MW...

Maybe I should write 'Ask Wendy'...

  17. That stranger saved Wilbur from falling against the guard rail. Hooray.

  18. Now Dawn, Wilbur, and the two handsome strangers are all dancing ridiculously around that pole.

This story has spun on a dime from grim to giddy.
