I'm obsessed with the meticulous shirt-pinning. Is this what Jim is learning in therapy at the hospital? Or does his mommy pin his shirt every morning?
I have come to the conclusion that Moy is immune-deficient or something and has lived her entire life in isolation. She only theorizes about what real conversations are like.
Although Jim is wearing a different shirt, Dawn is wearing the same clothes from yesterday. Or does she have an entire closet filled with Mary Worth Wannabee attire? (I'm picturing Tony Shaloub opening the closet on "Monk.")
Oh boy, we're back in the cafeteria where the food disappears and reappears as if by magic. Note that Dawn doesn't have any milk in panel 1 but does have some in panel 2. Whereas Jimbo's half pint has turned into a whole pint, and his ghost muffin has changed into a bowl of grits, or some sort of unappetizing white lumps. Can't wait to see what their trays hold tomorrow.
Well, Karen Moy did say that she does about 3 storylines a year. . .This one seems to be lasting an eon, but would we be so hot to have a new one if Dawn weren't such a pathetic character? Oddly, the way overly assertive Nola Wolverson (sic?) got short shrift.(I've actually forgotten her name since having to gape at Dawn/Wilbur for so long). Nola was all bad actions followed by swift justice and quick repentence. Maybe all the other MW characters are on strike, wanting more $$. It somehow figures that a dishrag like Dawn would persist. Bet she works for peanuts . . ..
It's true that Moy said she likes to do three storylines a year. So what I want to know is, are we counting the cruise ship "incident" and this current encounter with Jim as one or two plots? (I consider the whole "Ask Wendy" thing to be a sub-plot.)
His sister was named Merry. I guess his brother is Pippin and his uncle is Sam. Nobody talks about Grandad Bilbo. They've gotten out of the hobbit of it.
Mary could visit Diner again and start some heavy meddling into the life of one of the waitresses . . . Don't know that it would be better but it would at least be different.
When is Dr. Jeff going to join Dawn and Jim for lunch?
Y'know, I'm still trying to imagine how you can lose an entire arm during a ferry boat accident. Was he trying to keep his sister from falling/drowning and she ripped it off? Was he in the water and a shark bit it off? Was it hit by the ship's screw? Was it crushed between the ship and the pier? Between two peices of heavy machinery? How did he survive the blood loss??
More than likely he just had a gash and the incompetent doctors at the S.R. Hospital amputated his arm.
@Mike in Cleveland--let me help on the 'how did he lose his arm in a ferry accident' question:
Jim was born with no arm. He did have a prosthetic for awhile, but he 'lost' it on the ferry as he was being rescued. A few o the deck reported seeing the arm casually flying westward, still firmly clasped to the dangling ladder of the rescue helicopter, while later reports had it appearing on Antiques Roadshow with the keno Twins.
To kathyo: Dawn returned to the beverage area to get cartons of milk for her and Jim, carefully selecting from the choice of designer colors one that would match her jacket. Unfortunately for Jim, all the aqua cartons were gone.
Mike in Cleveland - I was wondering that, and also how much therapy a person would really need (and why would they have to go to the hospital, not a doctor's office, for it?) after losing an arm. Most people can do a reasonable amount of things with their non-dominant hand. Are they teaching him not to tip over the side when he walks? On a related note, this past summer I stayed at a motel in Green River, Utah where the desk clerk was a one-armed man. He lost it from diabetes, nothing to do with ferries.
Don't be shy! I'd love to hear what you have to say about Mary Worth. Just keep it clean, that's all I ask. This is a FAMILY FRIENDLY blog. I don't want to moderate comments, but I will if I have to.

As a side note, there's actually a prosthesis store in suburban Cleveland (Mayfield Road I believe for all the NEO folks here) called 'Hanger'.
