Mary Worth 1,462

I seem to remember this same conversation taking place the week of Halloween. This Thanksgiving, I will be Thankful that we got to relive this delightful discussion between Mary and Dawn.

I have just one Christmas wish...

Today's Full Strip

  1. I DO admire her grammar. Not everyone would have been able to use "whom" correctly after all she's been through.

  2. I realize that there weren't any eating scenes in the old Batman comics, but couldn't Uncle Joe get a friend or a family member to pose holding a fork? Just to see what it actually looks like?

(Thanks for the bouquets yesterday, folks. Being silly is very rewarding!)

  3. I think Dawn is so at home at Mary's because it would appear that her sofa is the same attractive liverish shade as the entire Weston dining room.

  4. If Dawn wants to enjoy her freedom, why doesn't she move out of Daddy's place into a dorm or apartment? Unless by "freedom" she means freedom from going to class, doing actual volunteer work, and preparing her own food.

I've been wondering why Karen Moy has been devoting so much time to Dawn. Did her syndicate complain that the strip was too gray (Mary, Dr. Jeff, Professor Chinbeard) and that she needed to add youth? If that's the case, her knowledge of real college students must be nonexistent.

  5. How many slices of pie can those gals pack away? Or maybe, how long can they both pretend to eat whatever concoction Mary has thrown together for the occasion?

I think Dawn has gone into some kind of hypnotic trance. 'Overprotective...late sister...resemble...must.get.away...'

  6. I think it's admirable that Dawn is willing to spend time with Mary, who is obviously on the decline cognitively, repeating herself ad nauseum so that the old lady can live vicariously through her.

It also gives Mary a chance to offload some of her wardrobe, recipes, platitudes, and pie.

(nice work yesterday, fauxprof! sorry I'm late to the kudos)

  7. @Nance at 9:11 AM has hit on something - Karen Moy is grooming Dawn as Mary's replacement. Before we know it, the strip will be called "Mary Worth, Featuring Dawn Weston."

  8. I hope Mary invites Dawn and Wilbur over for Thanksgiving dinner, and secretly invites Jim too. Hilarity would ensue! Or tragedy. What am I thinking, it would end up being tedious and boring somehow . . .

Don't be shy! I'd love to hear what you have to say about Mary Worth. Just keep it clean, that's all I ask. This is a FAMILY FRIENDLY blog. I don't want to moderate comments, but I will if I have to.
