It was about this time last year--maybe a little later--that Fate led Dawn to the grocery store. In a replication of past history, Dawn will run into Tom Harpman, reunited with his ex-wife. He will suggest they all hang out together sometime.
Luckily, Game of Thrones is back on HBO. Let's hope Elinor has sprung for a cable hookup--she's probably watching that Kevin Bacon series where the serial killer is obsessed by Poe.
Actually, I think Elinor can't wait for Beth to get going - she'll immediately switch over to Cinemax, angry that she's already missed the first half-hour of the Red Shoe Diaries marathon. She may look like a prude (or a prune, for that matter), but still waters run deep...
I watch that Kevin Bacon show for many of the same reasons I read Mary Worth. Now, about panel 2, where the heck is Beth standing? If she's still inside their apartment, it looks like the closet(?) door next to the exit door is also labeled, which is weird. If she's out in the hall, how's mom going to hear he belated "Okay, I won't"? I must say, however, that Elinor's appearance has improved greatly since Beth has been staying home with her.
Beth can only hope that someday she and her mother will have different labels on Mary Worth and Me: Beth and Elinor Kinley will happily become Beth Kinley or Elinor Kinley, but not together, because Beth has broken free from that pill poppin', Poe perusin' mother of hers.
@Yahoonski, I think Beth's reply to her mother after leaving the apartment is supposed to indicate Beth's sense of defeat and low self-esteem or something.
What freaks me out is that big black rectangle between Beth and Elinor's chair in that first frame. It looks like maybe Joe was trying to draw a bit of wall but he couldn't get the clipart bits to line up, so he just colored it in and made a light switch (?) at waist height.
Don't be shy! I'd love to hear what you have to say about Mary Worth. Just keep it clean, that's all I ask. This is a FAMILY FRIENDLY blog. I don't want to moderate comments, but I will if I have to.
