Chin napkins in love!

The other day, some of you asked for evidence that I've been learning to play the ukulele. My post is a little late today because I've been spending Mother's Day alone in my basement recording this while my wife fixed dinner for the kids.

I just see the message, "This video is private." I know other people using blogger have this problem, I just don't know how they solve it...

I'm glad you noted that chin napkins can form couples, also.

  2. This creepy, ostensibly impassioned face touch of lips (I guess it's supposed to be a kiss of sorts) reminds me of those old-timey movies, where the protagonists sort of mash their closed mouths against each other, and they end up married (a la Doris Day in Calamity Jane).

"Wasn't this better than the franks you had the other day?" is, regardless of its maternal overtones, what I learned in my research classes in social-work grad school to be a leading question, where the recipient of said query is gently pressured into answering in a particular way. Tom would feel like a heel if he said, "Of course not! That overly salted piece of garbage is even worse than those franks I've been living on!"

Wv: approval (Participants in a research study are more likely to answer leading questions in a particular way to gain the approval of the researcher, or another dinner for the lonely bachelor, no matter how poorly seasoned it is.)

Wanders, that ukelele version of Downtown was sublime!

  5. Wanders and i just had a lovely duet to start my morning. Maybe they could book us at the Bum Boat.

  6. Wanders, your singing and ukelele playing helped startd my morning with a smile - thank you! The tour of all the downtown Santa Royale hotspots was quite a bonus.

Holy moly, it doesn't take much to find love at Charterstone, does it? Will Tom ever tell Beth about the first Mrs. Harpman, or is that unimportant? I suppose the first Mrs. H.'s culinary abilities could not measure up to Beth's. She also had a brain, probably.

My biggest fear is that Mary will soothe Elinor's about-to-be-ruffled feathers by telling her that these two emotionally stunted goofballs are made for each other, Elinor will relent, and we will be cheated out of an Elinor Super Tantrum.

  7. Thanks Wanders, I loved the little tour of SR, it brought memories..

  8. Why do I ever worry that by not coming here daily I would miss anything?

  9. Well, that brought me off my lurk perch. That was great, Wanders. Brought a smile.

Dave in Parma, no thought bubbles, words! They're IN LOVE. Holey cats.

  10. I'm in LOVE with you, Wanders.

  11. Monday - okay, Moy and Uncle Joe have officially "jumped the shark".

On what basis do these two "love each other"? The only thing they have in common is that they're both - officially, anyway - of opposite genders.

Something Tom and Beth should think about for their honeymoon.

For future reference please refer the the star of this strip as "Chin Napkin" with caps. He has earned it.

  14. Monday's version of Beth and Tom kissing is even worse than yesterday's! Is she just pressing her nose against his? I just Googled "couple kissing" and found plenty of source material Giella could be referencing.

  15. By the way, excellent job on ukelele, Wanders!

  16. Duh! Now I see why it took me so long to get married! I actually had the stupid idea to get to know my future mate over time and varied circumstances. You know... make sure we had enough interests and values in common to base a future on. I'm so dumb! I never took literally the CSN song: "Love the One You're With" when it was really the manual to how to find my soul mate!

    BWAAAAAHAAAAHAAAAHAAAAHAAAAA!!!!

  18. I have no problems with the early declarations of love. Been there, done that, and am still married to my "Tom."

However, how can she not know what it is that his 'work' is? Barrow in the marketplace? Writer of the songs that make the young girls cry?

Perhaps like Father Kinley, he is a traveling salesman and will leave as soon as he gets what he wants from Beth (another highly salted meal).

  19. Monday.

One uncomfortable dinner party chaperoned by Mary and Elinor. One trip to the grocery store. One cooking lesson (!) with disgusting looking meal. This adds up to "I love you?" Well, in the Worthiverse, yeah.

As to the kiss--with the starburst effect behind them, it looks as though their heads collided, with much damage to Beth's glasses (not to mention Tom's eye socket). All that panel needs is an accompanying sound effect, like BONK!

  20. "And he's rounding first and heading for second...."

Nice Star Wars reference Sandi Ego.

I'm still convinced Uncle Joe forgot the thought bubbles.

  21. Talk about desperation. Any normal person would be making excuses as to why the evening had to end NOW! On second thought, it may be best that Beth get a commitmenet before Tom gets to know her better.

  22. The only thing these two love birds have in common is they they are awfully dull.

  23. I think we just saw the winner of the Santa Royale Grammys. That was positively inspiring, Wanders!

  24. That was just great Wanders. Loved the video!

  25. Love the video. Perhaps you have a story idea for the Mary Worth strip, where the spouse spends time alone providing wonderful entertainment for the masses, while wife prepares the Mother's Day meal...What would Mary say? Would she join in a duet? The possibilities are endless.
