Our Plain Dealer carrier is on vacation, and the substitute didn't deliver this a.m. So, thank goodness I had the support of Wanders when I looked at Mary Worth today - !! Did that intravenous blue stuff finally get hooked up to Elinor? I think we have two candidates for Worthy Awards Panel of the Year today.
Elinor's being tortured by a vision of Beth in purple scrubs?
Do we get more of the dream sequence tomorrow? Alternate fates for despondent Beth--over a cliff (ala Aldo Kelrast), off of the pier, or perhaps suicide by salt poisoning (unless she's built up an immunity via her own cooking).
@KitKat: as of August, no more Plain Dealer for me, but luckily, the Akron Beacon Journal has Mary Worth. Not in color, but we have Wanders for that.
Yes, Elinor does appear to be smiling/laughing in the second panel. Her conscience is not bothering her, she is merely self-validating her attitude. Next she will be plotting how to further drive Beth and Tom apart.
@fauxprof at 9:01 AM, come August I guess I'll be reading the PD e-edition on the iPad on non-home delivery days. It will be a challenge to not spill my oatmeal on the device when reading Mary Worth. Especially with panels like today's - d'oh!
WV is "tomedip amor"; maybe Elinor had that for a snack, triggering this dream.
In today's strip, Mary slips some LSD into Elinor's Regular Water. Elinor hallucinates and sees Beth vomiting while TomHarpman turns away, disapprovingly. Then, Beth shows everyone her "Home Alone" McCauley Culkin impression.
Elinor laughs and laughs. Beth hasn't done that since she was a child.
I can't wait for tomorrow. Maybe dancing asparagus and a kick line of lamb.
Viet Cong Guellirra Leadel say: "I rike Ereanole's psychederic fevel dleam...hope fauxplof is light and Beth end up rike Ardo Kerlast and dlive cal off criff and say 'oh, no...'."
I have an Elinor fashion/style question (however unlikely that might seem):
The hair. Does she have long hair up in a bun that is never loosened, or is she sporting the world's most heavily shellacked short pompadour (a la the Fonz or other greasers)? If it's the latter, isn't that a little, um, mannish? Are there some other issues we haven't considered in regard to her well-known contempt for the male of the species?
I had a heart attack in 2006 (a real one, by the way), and I got kicked out of the hospital in 2 days. I had good insurance, but I imagine Elinor is on Medicare, which means she should have been released long ago!
@Carlye: Elinor has been moved to the Step-down Meddling wing at Charterstone where the MD (Meddling Domestic), Mary, and her assistant, Toby, can have greater access to provide a more entertaining, er, more effective treatment.
Good to see Elinor is continuing to channel her inner Aunt May from Spiderman, similar to how all the Hanna Barbera characters began to resemble each other in the 1970s.
This is all Mary's fault with that dang asparagus and lamb dinner! If only she hadn't introduced TomDear and BethDear, Elinor would still be getting along just splendidly, thank you very much.
@j. R. Clark, in the future I will need to delete offensive dialect posts. If it is funny in plain English, it doesn't need stereotypes to make it funnier.
Don't be shy! I'd love to hear what you have to say about Mary Worth. Just keep it clean, that's all I ask. This is a FAMILY FRIENDLY blog. I don't want to moderate comments, but I will if I have to.

ReplyDeleteElinor's being tortured by a vision of Beth in purple scrubs?
Looks like Tom Harpman found Jim's missing arm.

ReplyDelete[My PYNAR words today: "assFrom sub". Seriously]

My word ver today? MARY! Not kidding.

I just jealous that KitKat has a real paper! I live in Ann Arbor, Mich. and our "real" paper went out of business years ago :(
ReplyDelete@TeacherPatti at 10:15 AM, would that publisher be the awful Advance Publications?
ReplyDeleteThere seem to be a disproportionate number of Northeast Ohio readers. This one's from North Royalton. What does that say about us?

KitKat,
ReplyDeleteThe bad part of the iPad is that you don't get Wander's secret messages. No Flash.
My PPYNAR is "himself". Maybe they are sending us other secret messages?
I cherish the image of Beth throwing up into her hand, even if just a little.
ReplyDeleteMy WV was Literaure!
ReplyDeleteHahahahahaha....

ReplyDelete@J.R. Clark. Speaking as an old liberal bany boom lady from the sixties, could we please bag the "Asian" dialect stuff. It's not really funny.

What is Mary dreaming about I wonder? Too scary to think about it for very long.
