Mary Worth 1,647

When I first read today's strip, I enjoyed the peaceful satisfaction I always feel when Joe Giella throws continuity out the window, as if to say, "I'm 85 years old (true)... I can draw it any way I darn well please." But then I asked myself, "Is that a bulletin board, or is it a large touch screen monitor?" Either way, I'm impressed.

  1. Is there any difference among Open Talks, Sharing Circles, and Discussion Groups?

    Why do I care?

  2. When Mary first described the Pax Wellness Center, it sounded like an exclusive, luxurious spa. Now it looks like the Santa Royale YMCA.

Mary's life is an ongoing open talk, sharing circle, and discussion group, so she's primed for a whole host of new meddle-ees.

  3. Now that Mary is all restored and toned, she's ready to unleash her special powers on the other participants.

(One thing has been bothering me about this place. Other than one guy in the dining area, we have not seen any men. Are we sure this isn't a women-only resort? And if it is, why did Mary originally invite Dr. Jeff to accompany her? And how did "dining-room-guy" get in?)

  4. Oh, wouldn't it be glorious if one of the groups she attends sees her for the self-righteous butinsky she REALLY is and does an intervention on her?!?

Alas, we know what will actually happen... she will take over leadership of the groups and be hailed as a beacon of inspiration for all. For that is the Mary Worth way. *sigh*

  5. How long has Mary been at this spa? Weeks? Has she even spent one hour in her room?

I hope these discussion groups take place on the first floor, because, after mMry makes her presence known, the other guests are going to head for any open window.

My WV: "HOMEAST" as in "My husband, Jack, died 60 years ago back homeast. I feel blessed."

  6. Nance, it doesn't matter, they all sound awful. Kill me now.

  7. So don't spas usually have some receptionist that books people in classes using a computer or give their guests the class info in some booklet when they check-in? Are there really spas that put up some sign-up sheet like high schools do in front of the gym for kids wanting to try out be in the school play? I'm beginning to suspect that Pax Wellness spa is not all that they've advertised.

Get ready all you open talkers and discussion groupers, a professional is about to take over.

  9. The Pax Wellness Center is beginning to look like a day camp.

  10. As Nance said, what is the difference between the three groups that apparently all start on Wednesday?

I can just see "Shannon" the Yoga teacher, now Group Leader sternly admonishing Mary: "MARY, that topic is NOT part of our Open Talks group. You will need to attend Group Discussions or Sharing Circles to address that issue! Please focus and do not stray from our itinerary.

You know the plot (?) is getting pretty lame when you start to wonder how Dr. Jeff's fundraiser is going at Hospital.

  11. I just can't wait to see what the topic of conversaton is. My guess is that it will have something to do with the therapeutic properties of nature.

Don't be shy! I'd love to hear what you have to say about Mary Worth. Just keep it clean, that's all I ask. This is a FAMILY FRIENDLY blog. I don't want to moderate comments, but I will if I have to.
