Mary Worth 1,670

Where ever they are going to eat, I hope they serve corned beef hash on Rehash Sundays. I admit that I am looking forward to learning more about what happened. For a while there, I didn't think I'd ever figure it out.

  1. Dollars to donuts they're going to have a restorative picnic in the restorative beauty of the desert, while basking in the restorative nature surrounding the Pax Spa.

  2. Can Shannon afford a celebratory dinner on a Pax Wellness yoga teacher/sharing circle moderator salary?

Here's hoping for that hearty helping of rehash with a side of platitude.

  3. With the halo over her head, Shannon has been promoted to Angel of the Ants.

And if I were a young Yoga Instructor/Incompetent Counselor, I would want to celebrate by dining with a stranger old enough to be my grandmother.

Let's hope the Aqua cocktails at dinner are 100 proof.

  4. I hope wherever they go, Aggie is at the table next to them. She'll be sobbing into her quinoa about how nobody loves her. Magnanimous Mary could then invite her over to join her and Shannon. Perfect opportunity for Mary to then preside over a reconciliation between the Angry Avocado and the Incompetent Group Therapy leader. Oh, wouldn't that just be the most glorious of endings to this wonderful epic?!?

  5. That panel just looks odd to me. I've never seen MW look more casual and more...predatory.

  6. Perhaps Aggie will be the new waitress at Mel's Diner, or what ever crappy place Shannon drags Mary. Shannon can get revenge by yelling "at least you have a blue plate special", storming off, and complaining to get Aggie fired, or at least a free said of hash. It's the circle of life friends, the ciclre of life.

  7. ooh, they're going to review past interactions for possible causes!

I hear the Bum Boat has signed a franchise agreement with Pax Resorts and Open Sharing Circles LLC.. nah they'll probably be snapping into some Slim Jims at the Pax Snax Shax.

  8. Looks like Mary's already undressing Saint Shannon with her eyes. I don't feel so well...

  9. Every day I marvel more and more that once - one time, long ago, that now seems like a golden age of gripping plot antics - I believed that nothing could be duller than Dawn and One-Arm Jim. I - we - sure know better now, no?

  10. Are Mary and Shannon going to eat a healthy meal where they can enjoy the beauty of nature?
    Zzzzzzzzz

  11. The local restaurants are the Tucson franchises of Wendy's, Diner, and The Lemon Tree.

If they go to Wendy's, Aggie will be there screaming that she has found a human finger in her chili.
At Diner, Aggie's complaint will be that Diner is out of Avocado Swirl ice cream. And at The Lemon Tree, Aggie will be stealing the other patron's purses.

Aw, heck, who am I kidding? They'll eat in the Pax cafeteria, and Aggie will be right next to them, and before you know it, they'll all three be singing Kumbaya between bites of krill on toast and cactus Margaritas.

  12. Yes, let's talk about it some more! Because heaven knows we haven't talked about it NEARLY enough!

    *shudder*

  13. Shannon, review past ineractions for possible causes.

  14. Tonight's Early Bird Special: Feedback Leftovers. Yuck.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Well, now that feedback is encouraged I have something to say to little miss mother-of-chaos.

Girl, at least you have three boys! Search the lobby bulletin board for a Pax Wellness Parenting Class and suck it up. The job isn't for wimps.

  16. "Mary, let's have dinner! We can talk about the one thing we have in common....again..."

  17. I have to believe that there is a code of ethics that would prevent
Shannon from discussing one client with another. If she were professional enough to realize that, I mean.

  18. Monday

Good grief, another week of self-congratulation in the desert!? A pox on Pax.

"It may not have been anyone's fault. It's just the nature of things." Gee, this reminds me of how Mary rationalized the death of Aldo Kelrast. Shannon is well on the way to mastering Mary Worth Platitude Speak. Perhaps she's warming up in the "Ask Wendy" bullpen.

  20. Just in time for pre-holiday shopping, on Amazon:
"Love and Other Stories of Mary Worth", by Moy and Giella.
Who knew there was a demand for something like this?

    ReplyDelete
  21. And the cover art is -perhaps inadvertently- hilarious. What appears to be Aggie in a Hawaiian shirt is looming over Mary, possibly with a concealed weapon. Mary is clipping a solitary rose, with cannabis growing in the background, while wearing purple sox with high heels.

  22. So after months of tedium, Moy's message to us is "change is part of life and BEING HEALTHY IS BEING ABLE TO ADAPT." What a payoff, although what I think she meant to say (pre running it through the Chinese translator) is that for Aggie, "BEING HEALTHY IS BEING ABLE TO ADAPT to change of life."

  23. Oh my, Meg. Thank you! I've already bought a copy of "Love and Other Stories of Mary Worth", by Moy and Giella (and I bought a copy for a friend).

The cover art is from (or was inspired by) the Aldo Kelrast story. That alone is worth the cost of this book. Also included are Anna and Brian story, which I think was about one of Mary's neighbors Anna who looked up an old flame Dr. Brian Good, and

"Lynn - A Skater's Story" - Mary visits an old friend whose young daughter is immersed in the world of competitive figure skating. But behind the glamor and glitz, lies a broken heart. . .and a father and daughter who need help. Will Mary be able to make things right for them, before it's too late?

The description says these are reader favorites.

Karen and Jo must have self published this.

    ReplyDelete
  24. SELF-PUBLISHED? You mean there's not a huge demand for such books?

    ReplyDelete
  25. I know, right?

I hope Karen and Joe have retained publishing rights for their work. I'd hate to see them getting strong armed by the syndicate.

  26. @Toots McGee at 1:03 PM, I had forgotten all about Lynn, the figure skater pushed to the brink by her demanding father. Maybe Karen Moy will consider an update: Boozy has-been Lynn, 179 pounds overweight and going by the name "Aggie," decides that people and circumstances change. She undertakes a rigorous training program of yoga, kelk smoothies, and the restorative power of the beauty of nature in a last-ditch attempt to reach the Sochi Olympics.

  27. Shouldn't Mary and Shannon have said this to Aggie during the sharing circle instead of the review past interactions. Then again, who cares?

    ReplyDelete
  28. I still think Mare has a girl crush on Shannon and she's trying oh so hard to look cool and hip so Shannon will like her.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Is that a diorama they're dining in on Monday?

    ReplyDelete
  30. They dine, as Aggie digs and searches for cronuts (TM) in the dumpster behind the venue. Visiting PAX sure is a smug experience.

  31. @meg at 11:53 AM -- It may be no accident that the book is priced at $13.13!

Don't be shy! I'd love to hear what you have to say about Mary Worth. Just keep it clean, that's all I ask. This is a FAMILY FRIENDLY blog. I don't want to moderate comments, but I will if I have to.
