Mary Worth 1,720

Speaking of Grand Historical Properties, I'm glad to share tonight with you! Ha ha ha ha.

  1. Meanwhile, in panel one, the lady with the hairy back makes a beeline for the door at the earliest acceptable opportunity.

  2. Mary's ogling the waiter's posterior. Someone take away her wine glass before she says or does something inappropriate!

Is Karen Moy expecting gift cards from the Waldorf Astoria and Lord & Taylor for her product placement? Seems to me she'll be waiting a long time...

  3. Moy and Giella are now enjoying their all-expense paid stay at the historic Waldorf Astoria!

birdie: Good point about the hairy babe behind Mary's table. DOSC is dressed like Dr. Zaius from Planet of the Apes, so this plot may turn into science fiction. (If only ...)

  4. Hmm, I thought that lady had an unfortunate case of 'back cleavage'. Hadn't thought about the possibility of it being a bad shaving job.

Well, either way, this whole storyline has been so mesmerizing that I can hardly wait to see what exciting development is next!

  5. Instead of ripping off a Vanity Fair story for a plot, KM is simply using a list of NYC businesses and having characters go to them.

If only they'd go to a taping of The David Letterman Show.

  6. Whaaaaa????

    When. Will. This. End?

This is making my daily masochism of reading Mary Worth particularly embarrassing...

  7. Rather than a gift card for The Waldorf or Lord and Taylor, Moy should expect a law suit for reputational damages.

  8. I'm with heydave. It's only Tuesday, and we all know nothing new ever happens until after Summary Sunday. My ears and eyes are starting to bleed from hearing all the accolades heaped upon Mary and watching her smug face.

  9. With the odd way that DOSC speaks and phrases things, I imagine her voice sounding like Bela Lugosi as Dracula.

''Children of the night! What music they make! I'm glad to share tonight with you, old friend... ''

Flashes of lightning, crash of thunder

  10. Apparently Shelly only invited Mary to NYC so she'd have someone to sit with at dinner. Not a single guest even stopped on their way out to congratulate DOSC on receiving The Haven's Strategic Humility Award--given for best use of the phrase "I couldn't have done it without you."

  11. I just cannot imagine where this plot is going next. . .Maybe a hostage situation at the Historic Waldorf? Mary will truly prove how valuable she can be if that happens. . .If I remember correctly, Mary had planned to stay in NY for about two months. What can she possibly DO for the next six weeks?? A trip to MOMA? A Broadway show? Visiting One World Trade Center? Perhaps Karen Moy is being paid by some NY Chamber of Commerce types for this plot.

  12. @LouiseF at 3:35 PM, it's more likely that NY Chamber of Commerce types would pay Karen Moy NOT to mention actual businesses. Maybe this NYC storyline is a KM extortion plot: "Okay, Bergdorf Goodman, pay up or Mary and Dear Old Shelly Cohen visit your store tomorrow!"

  15. Mary's head must be so swelled, it will be tough getting her out of the revolving door at the Waldorf.

Here's the real ballroom. Not a pink drape in sight!

  16. WEDNESDAY
Oh, goody! I was afraid Mary would head back to Santa Royale before she had the chance to work some of her special magic on some poor, unsuspecting soul. But her extended stay with Shelly was foreshadowed back when we first learned of DOSC's invitation. So maybe we'll have some Worthiverse "excitement" after all.

  18. Wait, wasn't Mary originally planning to stay for at least a month and maybe longer? Did the Promise Haven snoozer consume a month of Worthiverse time? Egad.

Well, now Mary will have time to renew acquaintances with John Dill and BobGina. John Dill can introduce his muse, Mary, to Chef Pierre, and BobGina might have a couple of kids by now. There's a lot to catch up on!

  19. Seeing DOSC in that getup with the scarf brings two words to my mind: Isadora Duncan.

  20. Will Mary still be in NYC for Thanksgivukah?

  21. Chester, thanks for the picture. I notice there's no cheesy dropped ceiling, either.
