Mary Worth 1750

Let me see if I have the chronology correct here:
  • First date: Mugging and lunch at Benedetto's.
  • Second date: Photo exhibit at New York Public Library to "create a certain mood," a walk in the park, and pizza for lunch.
  • Third date: Christmas party at the Haven.
  • Fourth date: Watch ice skaters, visit Museum of Natural History, then ask her to abandon her life and move in with you.
I think I have that right. It's hard to be so attractive, isn't it Mary? In fact, I think today she's done all she can to make herself as hideous as possible to discourage Mr. Banana Head.

  1. Is it me, or have there not been any secret messages lately?

  2. Ken has been smitten by Mary's good looks and by their deep conversations, which have ranged from how splendid New York is during the holidays to how much she'll miss the city. Yep, he really knows her well.

  3. Which one's the dinosaur?

  4. @Wanders: Well, I see it now, but didn't before. I didn't see the one for 12/27 either, but I do now. Strange.

  5. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm feeling whiplashed by these sudden changes of location - Promise Haven, chez DOSC, Rockefeller Center, now the Natural History Museum - I just can't keep up. I'd like to go back to a nice calm three-week walk in the desert, and soon.

My guess on K2, by the way, is that Mary's going to foist him off on DOSC and/or he'll turn out to be a baddie in some way. Time - lots of it - will tell.

  6. Is it me or is 2K morphing into Karl Malden with a beard?

@Regina the NY Diva--Yes! I see what you mean! That schnoz (sp??)has been evolving on it's own, it seems.

Anyway, so let's get on with the heartbreak we all know is coming already. I feel sympathy for poor K2 and his amazingly poor taste in love objects. The guy is desperately lonely. Even something like a Mary Worth-type organism seems appealing when you've been THAT lonely for THAT long, I suppose. Those ripe cataracts probably don't help much, either.

  8. I must have missed something. I thought it was all one big, marathon date. I've been lulled by their pointless, boring, soporific conversation. The change in scenery seemed arbitrary.

  9. "Mr. Banana Head"?!?! How dare you! I demand an apology. I am a Broadway legend!

And, as far as my choice of love objects goes, Mary Worth is a goddess! She was once immortalized as a pink statuette atop a pink cake consecrated to the beauty of nature.

Well, back to my date ...

  10. Has anyone else noticed that we've never seen Ken's toupee and Donald Trump's together? Oh, this is going to be yoooooooge when Ken/Donald rips off his beard and tells Mary she is the winner of Elderly Apprentice.

  11. Oh, they're at a museum? I thought it might be a fashion runway show.

  12. Sunday's artwork looked like the work of Uncle Joe. Today, it's back to last week's facial weirdness. I gives Mr. Giella had to do a month of Sunday strips before he retired? That's my uneducated guess.

  13. I meant "guess", not "gives". Wacky auto-correct, worse proof reading.

  14. No way will KK transfer his deep love from Mary to DOSC. I firmly believe we're in for another soul-crushing let down of the kind that happens to Dr. Jeff every couple of months. KK will continue to pursue Mary (in MANY more awesome NY locations and with LOTS more awkward food items eaten with pointy utensils glued to fingertips), but she will tell him that she is happy in Santa Royale and, although she feels deep love for NY, could not imagine moving there. It’s a nice place to visit, you know, but ….. Oh, I’m sorry, you said you love me and can’t live without me? Well, that’s nice dear, but I’m already engaged. See you around. Toodles! Fade to Mary smirking out an airplane window at KK’s floating head. Aaaah, another story well concluded.

  15. Reality, as you know it, bares (bears?) little semblance to where-so-ever Mary goes.

  16. So touching that the bony foot-appendage thingy is the only thing separating them from True Love.

  17. @Shmoopie--Good call on the next floating head. I'll remember that you predicted it.

  19. Is that Legendary Broadway singer Ken Kensington in panel 2 or is it really Squidward Tentacles?

Don't be shy! I'd love to hear what you have to say about Mary Worth. Just keep it clean, that's all I ask. This is a FAMILY FRIENDLY blog. I don't want to moderate comments, but I will if I have to.
