Mary Worth 1756

"Oh, Jeff, I'm so confused. I don't know what I want anymore. I met the most dashing man who has wooed me relentlessly. We've seen each other every day -- he even bought me a ten dollar scarf! He wants me to stay here in New York City so we can be together. Oh, Jeff, it's so stimulating here, but it would be a big change. It would mean leaving the Bum Boat and the warm Santa Royale winters. But I've never been this happy. Oh, Jeff. I'm so glad you called. What should I do? You've always been such a good friend, I know I can count on you."

  1. Some people chew the scenery; Mary chews a $10 scarf.

Wanders, I have two suggestions for the Charterstone jukebox:

"Should I Stay or Should I Go?" by The Clash

"Town Between Two Lovers" by Mary MacGregor

    Pros and Cons... Hmmmmmmmmm....

Well, NYC does have incredible and diverse cultural attractions, but Santa Royale has the market cornered on bad clown art.

NYC restaurants actually do serve dinner after 4:00pm, but the food is recognizable... not like those colored blobs in Santa Royale that I love so much.

    What to do???

  4. Wow. How many Worthiverse Days has she known KK'ton? I mean, we've known him FOREVER, but really, she just met the guy.

That would be like me leaving my husband for George Clooney after hanging out with him for a mere three days...wait....

    Sigh.

  5. Sorry, but I must reprise my comment from the previous post, because I feel pretty certain that when next year's Worthy Award nominees are announced, there will be a mention of the cameo by $10 Chin Scarf

  6. Actually, KitKat, "town" between two lovers is entirely appropriate, considering that Mary seems equally torn between NYC and Santa Royale.

Jeff's appearance in yesterday's strip leads me to believe that he spent his time in Vietnam having plastic surgery, and I mean Liberace-style.

  7. @fauxprof at 9:59 a.m., you make a valid point about Dr. Jeff in yesterday's strip! Maybe that explains why he said nothing about Vietnam other than "Wonderful as ever!"

Mary's phone looks like a piece of gray rubber.

  8. Mary is now under the spell of the enchanted scarf that Ken bought from the mysterious Chinese sorcerer. (Notice how its design has changed from pink with black stripes, to solid pink, then back to the original pink with black stripes, and finally today's pink with white stripes.) The scarf, it its attempt to become one with Mary, has overpowered her and is compelling her to devour it!

  9. I think Mary is just subconsciously stimulated by being in a place that does not have the pink curtains required in all Santa Royale apartments.

  10. I really can't let pass Mary's Thursday reply of "You're Sweet Jeff. I miss you too." to Jeff's comment that "Santa Royale's not the same when you're not here."

I don't believe he said he missed you, Mary.

  11. T0 translate from Narcissist to English:

    "myself" = other people
"so much of myself" =other people who love her
" " = any concern for their feelings

  12. Nance - it would take 3 days for you to decide to leave your hubby for George Clooney?

  13. I would never never leave my wife for Mary Worth!!!
Maybe I should go out and buy a $10.00 made-in-China designer scarf for her.

  14. Chin Scarf, indeed! There is and will always be, only one true chin textile.

  15. Since Jeff and Shelly are so into charity work maybe they should hook up.

  16. In the past I've been sympathetic to Dr. Jeff given the frequent rejections by the Queen of Narcissism. However... no phone calls/texts/emails while he was away and suddenly, now that he's back from Vietnam he can't live without her?? Seems like maybe they really DO deserve one another. Why is everyone in the Worthiverse so pathetic? (Authors are always told to 'write what they know'... so what does that suggest????)

What will Toby Cameron do without her daily chats with Mary? I miss Toby. She's so interesting.

  18. Saturday: it looks like Dr. Jeff is morphing into Chris Christie in preparation for his migration east.

  20. It's a good thing the folder in Jeff's hand is labeled "Vietnam clinic." Otherwise, we would think he's wasting time doing nothing. I would like details about the new friends he made in Vietnam, though. Perhaps attractive young women?

  21. SATURDAY

Did JG forget who he was drawing? It looks like he started with Wilbur, snapped back to reality, and finished up by putting Dr. Jeff's face on the head.

And what kind of fly-by-night operation is Dr. Jeff running over there if all its info can fit into one lousy folder? Looks like a scam to me.
