Any watchers of Mad Men out there recall the scene from last season where Sally sees Don and Sylvia doing what's normal for kids their age? Maybe Olive will run back to the apartment for an apron....
MONDAY It looks like Mary and Olive are combining baking with a pajama party. Olive is wearing pj's and Mary a robe. What fun!
I've been ruminating about Olive's angelic visitor. Wouldn't a helpful angel have encouraged Olive to learn to swim rather than say "Stay away from the pool"? So, either Olive is lying (and needs to be "evaluated"), or that angel was a bad angel!
Don't worry, Olive will be safely rescued from the pool. The helicopter crew that plucked Dawn and Wilbur is warming up the engines at this very moment!
In addition to precognition, Olive also has the power of telekinesis. Between panels one and two, she has materialized her favorite box of WOW chips from her apartment to Mary's. You can see it hovering about an inch over the counter. I tell you, the kid's got some wild talents!
I would not trust Olive with any type of knife. Mary may feel likewise, considering her expression in the second panel: "This kid who sees fairies and angels is at my table with a KNIFE!?"
What are Mary and Olive doing with the apple peelings? Eating them as they peel, or dropping them on the floor?
WEDNESDAY The Mary Worth Apple Pie Method is unique. Instead of combining the sliced apples with sugar, cinnamon, and other ingredients in a mixing bowl, Mary seems to be putting apple chunks and transparent apples (ghost fruit?) on a cutting board and poking them with her knife.
Meanwhile, if Olive's hair continues to grow at this rapid rate it'll reach the floor by Friday.
Don't be shy! I'd love to hear what you have to say about Mary Worth. Just keep it clean, that's all I ask. This is a FAMILY FRIENDLY blog. I don't want to moderate comments, but I will if I have to.
You know we're in for a week of Mary and Olive baking cookies with lots of pink batter and frosting.
ReplyDeleteAnd all the while, we'll be visualizing Olive's parents playing their grown-up games.
Ewww ... let's hope the angel warns Olive to stay out of her parent's bedroom.
That Dr. Ed... what an attentive, caring father. I hope he isn't that blasé about his ER patients. "Doctor, the patient's got a butcher's knife wedged into his pancreas! He's bleeding out. Do something!!" "Oh settle down, nurse worrywart, it's just a flesh wound." Ten minutes later, the exsanguinated corpse is wheeled to the morgue....
ReplyDeleteOh, awesome, they're going to fight over money then play passive-aggressive games all afternoon.
ReplyDeleteThen they're going to redecorate that ugly apartment. Start with the lamp.
ReplyDeleteMary: "Lands sakes alive, I seem to have left my pocketbook out by the pool! Olive, could you please go get it for me? There's a good girl."
ReplyDeleteOlive: "Mary, what does lands sakes alive mean?"
Yummy-yum! I want me some of that lovin'! When can I get that sexy Dr. Ed alone?
ReplyDeleteOh, great. Ed wants to make another baby he can ignore.
ReplyDeleteWell, THIS is not very family friendly...

ReplyDeleteI`d like to comment, but I have to go observe my children.
ReplyDeleteMONDAY
ReplyDeleteAnd now we learn Olive is psychic as well. Sure. Why not? Makes as much sense as anything else in the Worthiverse...

He’s referring to inviting Mary over for coffee and pie. You people have such filthy minds.
ReplyDelete@fauxprof: I noticed that, too. What's with the product placement for defunct products? (The Comics Curmudgeon posted on Wow! chips a few days ago.)
ReplyDeleteWEDNESDAY
ReplyDeleteWasn't that an O.C. Smith song - "Little White Apples"?
