Mary Worth 1956

Of course she'll follow you anywhere. You're driving.

  1. I suggest Jerry's Sandwich Shop. I hear they make a mean tuna sandwich and Tommy the busboy will certainly clean up the resulting drool.

  2. Let's see, our choices are Jerry's, The Bum Boat, and Diner.

I'd opt for Diner. Get the rainbow swirl ice cream.

  3. The audience seems to be fleeing, which is odd since it's only intermission.

As tuna is such a favorite of Sean, I'm betting on the Bum Boat. Mary and Dr. Jeff might be there (Jeff running low on "fundraising" excuses), and Mary can observe even more interactions. She'll be beaming.

  4. Poor Hanna. Sean led with "It's kind of late." In the Real World, what could that mean?
    1. He wants to go back to his place and fool around.
    2. He doesn't want to go anywhere...anymore.
    3. He is not really invested in this date or even this relationship and wants her to do the Heavy Lifting.
    4. He can only plan One Thing for a date (as Wanders said) and the rest is up to her.

Since this is the Worthiverse, Hanna will probably ask if they can swing by Food Team or Drugstore so that she can grab a few Items.

  5. Doesn't Hanna know the only correct answer is, "How about my place?"?

(And if we all close our eyes and wish very hard, Amy and little Gordon will be there waiting for them. 'Ma! This how you act? Bringing strange men home to your condo?? And Pa only dead for 10 years!! C'mon, Gordy, let's go to the kitchen for a snack while Granma and this geezer canoodle on the sofa MY father paid for. Hummph!")

  6. Debussy? Not only does the rest of the audience appear to be fleeing, as KitKat suggested, but from their expressions, I'd guess that they've just seen a particularly graphic documentary about wartime atrocities.

  7. I don't know Wanders - one of my first dates, after a movie, I asked Sean's same question. We ended up driving around, parked under a bridge, and made out for a while before her curfew. It's unlikely that this will happen to Sean and Hanna but it's possible.

  8. Who the heck is Sean talking to? His eyes seem to be directed to the ceiling lights. Maybe the ghost of his dear departed?

  9. In panel one, I believe the lady in tan visible between Sean and Hanna is Mary's tastefully butch younger sister.
Like all the rest of Mary's family, the two never speak.

  10. Wherever they go, I hope Chin Napkin makes a holiday appearance. Has anyone else noticed Sean's resemblance to Mr. Whipple

  11. Wanders, when I read Hannah Banana's thought balloon, I immediately thought of the Prince song "Take me with you". I nominate that song for the Charterstone Jukebox in honor of Sean and Hannah.

Chin Napkin Groupie, I still thing Sean looks like the Lorax. Uncle Joe must use Dr. Suess for his inspiration.

Don't be shy! I'd love to hear what you have to say about Mary Worth. Just keep it clean, that's all I ask. This is a FAMILY FRIENDLY blog. I don't want to moderate comments, but I will if I have to.
