Mary Worth 1977

I've had a few friends who were widows and widowers. Remarrying is one of the greatest challenges of their lives. Not just the decision to remarry, but also understanding the fact that their new spouse is not a replacement for their deceased spouse... to say nothing about the challenge of being the new spouse. It can be a really difficult transition. Sometimes it hasn't worked; but sometimes, if they hang out for a few weeks at each others' apartment building, it can succeed gloriously!

  1. Much relief upon viewing today's second panel. I was beginning to wonder "what's love got to do with it."

  2. There's nothing to a Second Marriage Late In Life!

Even if you've never met the families!
Even if you've never spent the night!
Even if you only know what instrument the other plays and what they order at a diner and buy at a pharmacy.

What's important is reviewing (brief) past interactions and finding them satisfactory. Ask Mary!

  3. What a romantic Sean is! Who could refuse such a "proposal?"

  4. And Mary will make the wedding cake, complete with a spun-sugar Mary as the topper. (It's only fair, because Mary.)

  5. @meg at 10:07 AM, not only will Mary bake the cake and serve as Matron of Honor/Hostess with the Mostest, she will perform the ceremony. How better to bestow her blessing and take all the credit? I hope we get to see Amy and Toby guzzling champagne together.

  6. OK, is the Robin's Egg diner the same diner we all know and love, or is it a new establishment that caters to the senior obsession with Early Bird Specials?

  7. "Getting married will be an easy transition, since we started shacking up after one date."

  8. Once again, Uncle Joe has chosen to shun Chin Napkin. Are Sean and Hanna supposed to use their sleeves? What did Chin Napkin ever do to Uncle Joe to deserve such treatment?

  9. Maybe this Sunday Karen Moy will lead with Samuel Johnson's definition of re-marriage as "the triumph of hope over experience?"

  10. I was hoping for the return of John Dill to show off his improved cake baking.

Will this wedding take place before Valentine's day? Do we still have two weeks?

    Please ... make ... it ... stop!

Don't be shy! I'd love to hear what you have to say about Mary Worth. Just keep it clean, that's all I ask. This is a FAMILY FRIENDLY blog. I don't want to moderate comments, but I will if I have to.
