Mary Worth 2026

"AAAAAAAAAAUGH!!!!!! Protective SERVICES??? But we're an UNBEATABLE Team!! If you leave INVESTIGATIONS, I'll be beatable! You'll ruin me!! I'll spend the rest of my career in some dull little town wearing trench coats and warning dimwitted artists about the dangers of EnormousShop.com and Pretty Porpoises. I admit you look good in sunglasses, but Protective SERVICES? You don't get to dress up like a go-go girl in Protective Services!"

  1. Clearly, this was not a decision that Adam Miller came to quickly or easily. It cost him dearly: just look at the deep, dark circles under his eyes.

He knew Terry Bryson would react badly to this news. And she did.

What would follow was eight long years of Loneliness and Regret. Was he successful in Protective Services? Yes. But he longed for the easy companionship and warmth of his partner and his love.

Most of all, he longed for her incredible range of emotional gestures. It was like being with a Cheerleader Of Feelings.

  2. Is "Twilight" author Stephenie Meyer co-writing this story? That could explain Mary's longevity, the long drawn out plots, why no one goes swimming during pool parties-drawing sparkling skin is not easy, "getting married solves everything" attitude, and Terry's large pointy incisors.

  3. Wanders, thank you for the spot-on translation of Terry's "!!!"

The explanation for Adam's injury will be revealed on Sunday, when the distraught Terry pushes him down the stairs. "If Investigations can't have you no one can have you!"

  4. Ok Terry, calm down and step away from the moon...

  5. How do you say, "!!!"?

  6. Is Terry reacting to Adam's statement or to the fact that the horizontal surface of her mustard yellow couch just disappeared out from under her. (Hey that's two falling off of furniture jokes for me this week!)

  8. Now that I've thought about it for a while (don't ask me why I'm still thinking about it...), I'm fairly certain that "!!!" is the sound Flipper makes when begging for a fish. Go back to todays strip, insert that auditory gem and see if it works for you!l

  9. limber Joe: I guess saying "!!!" is kind of like Margo McGee saying "snap" when she snaps her fingers.

Easily excited Terry may have fangs, but at least she's got an upper lip. She doesn't have a hand sticking out of her chest either.

One thing I'm still not sure about, though: does Terry think she and Adam were a good team or not? Maybe we can get some clarification on this in upcoming strips.

  10. The first panel either has Terry being pelted with the Sweet White Lights of Memory OR she is stuck on the set of the "Brady Bunch". . .

  11. What does Adam mean by "protective services"? The Secret Service? Witness Protection Program? At any rate, it's something Terry finds utterly horrifying.

BTW, both Wanders and Uncle Joe are knocking it out of the ballpark this week. Moy...not so much.

  12. I don't think she's reacting to the news at all. Her response is exactly the response you would get from me if a close friend suddenly had a hand pop out of his chest.

The fangs are still mysterious though. Perhaps they're part of one of her disguises.

  13. I uttered a similar "!!!" when my coworker/lover mentioned that he was leaving to go into protective services.

He now hocks cheap knockoff sunglasses and umbrellas to squinting desperate tourists at the sketchier beaches of Frisco.

I had the exact same reaction as Terry (without the fangs) when my husband told me he ate my marshmallow Peeps.
