Adam Miller has just called into question my entire blog. I'm going to need to sit down with a large plate of salmon squares and a cup of kelk and ponder this out. Maybe I should be blogging about Judge Parker instead.
Karen Moy is a genius with stilted dialogue. Adam and Terry are making me nostalgic for Olive's clueless parents. "Oh Eddie, tee hee" is preferable to this dreck.
This can only be improved by Terry and Adam tumbling off the boardwalk and into the drink.
Wanders, I LOVE your blog! Please keep it up! Also, I would LOVE IT if you also blogged about Judge Parker, which is also a blast of a strip. I read several soap opera strips every day, and my enjoyment of them is inversely proportional to the quality of the art and plot and the speed of the plot development. Apartment 3-G is by far my absolute favorite, and Mary Worth is definitely in second place. Judge Parker is fun, but the art is great, there are real plots, and the plots move forward every day.
If you go by Terry's expression, which looks like she sees a giant booger hanging off Adam's nose, I don't think there's going to be any kissing going on.
I know this strip is slow, but the nice part is, you can usually go on vacation or a business trip, and be gone for a week or two, and you still don't lose track of the story. Weeks from now, we'll still see these two on a bench or in a restaurant, unless Mary Worth has them over to dinner -- you know it's coming -- so that she can observe them.
OMG! They did spend the night under the boardwalk! They started out taking a walk on a beautiful night with a full moon. Now it's clearly daytime, with a blazing sun overhead! I'm appalled. Wait til Mary finds out.
The poor guy by the window in Panel 1 waits and wonders why he can't get a cell phone signal in the Worthiverse. He'll be sad to find out that he has no cell phone in his hand. A look-close shows that a seagull has flown off with it. How true, "Things happen" I wish they would in this strip!
Second panel, Adam copies my old boyfriend again. Except he was talking about a video game. On second thought, maybe Adam is too...maybe that's why it took him ten years to reconnect with 'the love of his life' after getting shot. I've heard of WoW doing that to a man, but never COD.
tkraft - I think the guy in panel 1 is pinching himself to see if he is still in his own reality. It does appear that everyone and everything has slipped into a David Lynch movie.
meg - LOL! I, too, was wondering about the pantless pantsuit.
Wanders - never reassess or ponder- your Mary Worth and Me Blog makes life wonderful and "worth"while.
So if that's a full moon, and Santa Royale is on the west coast, the moon is just about to set in the west. Which means that the sun is about to come up. Which means that they have been out all night. The horror!
Also, Terry appears to be having a stroke; her right side is drooping. Time lost is brain lost, Adam! Although I don't have much brain left after following this stalkerline for so many weeks.
Don't be shy! I'd love to hear what you have to say about Mary Worth. Just keep it clean, that's all I ask. This is a FAMILY FRIENDLY blog. I don't want to moderate comments, but I will if I have to.
Great call on the werewolf, Wanders!
ReplyDeleteShe's sorry for the time THEY lost? What about US, Terry? What about us?
ReplyDeleteIsn't this the pier where that one armed kid hangs around with Dawn?
ReplyDeleteChester has a question. Does Terry really have a room mate? Was this room mate ever mentio-ned in the strip?

Is... is that pillar with the rope on it wearing a toupee? And if so... why?
ReplyDeleteI think we all know what happens at the pier in the moonlight - someone will get a buzzy feeling!

It must have taken a long time to get the check for their meal. They were going for a moonlight stroll on the boardwalk, but now it's daylight.

ReplyDeleteTo be honest, "Mark Trail and Me" rolls of the tongue pretty well ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised at you all. Don't you recognize Uncle Joe's rendering of a full moon?
ReplyDeleteAfter having Mary Worth to kick around, blogging about a quality comic strip would be no fun at all.
ReplyDeleteThat lady in the lavender jacket is not going to be happy when she sees the restaurant's No Pants No Service sign.

@Carlyle: You nailed it! That's the classic "I see a booger!" look. Glad I can still connect with my peers.
