Mary Worth 2090

As soon as Teflon Girl retrieves the gun, the fight is technically over, but rather than using it to apprehend the perpetrator, she poses oh so sveltely as the Skunk whacks the guy on the back of the cranium with what is clearly a rebar reinforced cane.

  1. Isn't this scenario something that you are never, ever supposed to do, even if you're an off duty officer? On a side note, Terryseems to have developed unnaturally skinny hips in panel two.

  2. What kind of move is Terry exhibiting in the first panel? A horizontal wave and sail? Amazing how she manages to get back on her feet AND replace her handbag on her shoulder by the second panel. However, as @fauxprof at 7:16 a.m. mentioned, the lower part of Terry's body is unusually compressed in that panel. Maybe she hit the boardwalk too hard.

  3. Maybe Adam had this mugging staged since he is quite desparate to win Terry over.

  4. Adam coiled his body for the backswing so hard in Panel 1, that his entire lower torso fell off.

  5. Adam's motto: Kill what you can, and cane what you can't.

  6. In real life, Adam would cause this guy a spinal cord injury, and the mugger would sue for millions and win.

  7. Karate ... er ... CANE CHOP!

  8. It looks like the lower edge of Adam's jacket got colored blue instead of brown; that would explain Terry's abnormally diminutive figure.

  9. Love a good "Wham!!" in the comics. It's so "Batman", c. 1965. I don't see Adam's action as a "Wham", though. Maybe a "Ka-thunk!" or a "Whack!" That mugger's head looks pretty dense. At least Batman was responding to an as-yet-unsubdued threat. Wondering if Fauprof and Wanders are pointing out that since Terry has the gun on the mugger, that display of strength by Adam is not only unnecessary but probably unnecessary use of force by law enforcement, a phenomenon that we've had quite a plague of and that has maybe woven itself irretrieveably into all aspects of our society, including the comics. .. Think I'll just stick with that "Batman" reference. . .
