  1. The combination of "Yeah" & "Moneyed neighborhood" is such an effortless way to reassure us that this is not of our earth that I must salute our alien overlord, Karen Moy.

  2. Yes, it's a nice building in a moneyed neighborhood. But wait until you meet the three strange women who live in Apartment 3G.

  3. It must be a balmy day in New York with Mary hanging out the window like that.

"Looks like a nice building. I wonder if it has a pool."

  4. It must be Williamsburg, Brooklyn, it's so moneyed! I bet Olive's father has grown a man-bun! Tee-hee!

  5. Panel one is the strangest panel in MW history!

  6. "Yeah, this is a moneyed neighborhood," said no cab driver, ever.

The different usages of money do make me laugh. "Moneyed" is funny and I also like "monies" because it reminds me of George Costanza:

Wyck: Now, as you know, the Rosses had considerable monies.

George: Oh. I know they have some monies.

Wyck: They had more than some monies. Many, many monies.

  7. If the family is so moneyed, why don't they use some of their monies to get poor Olive the psychological help that she so desperately needs. Actually, my guess is that the family lives in the servants quarters.

  8. Mary sez, "Lady? That's Mrs. Worth to you!"

    SATURDAY
Mary Worth's passive-aggressive comment of the day: "There, there, dear. Please keep the tip. I'm sure the extra nine cents will go a long way. I will enjoy New York. ... And I'll enjoy it with one of my favorite friends! (i.e., not you!)"

  10. You've got to compliment the cabbie on the clean trunk. Actually, maybe Mary added just those words to her 75-cent tip.

  11. If the Taylors are such Favorite Friends, why didn't they pick Mary up at the airport?

Mary's large suitcase looks like about a weeks' worth of clothing, the valise holds the 10 cans of Aqua Net hairspray Mary uses a week.

The last two weeks could have been replaced with a single panel saying "Mary arrives at the Taylors".
Actually - she has only made it to the building. Will it take another week to enter the building, ride the elevator, knock on the door, and thought bubble "I'm so excited to see my friend"

  12. The ants flew free, they had plenty of miles on their AA account.

  13. Sunday
Mary hands the cab driver a sandwich as a tip. However, he got the last laugh - this is not the address Mary gave him. Tomorrow: Lost in NYC!

  14. SUNDAY: How perplexing it is that these "good friends" of Mary's are so conspicuous by their absence. Had they not been alerted as to the day and the hour of her arrival? Why is no one there to greet her? Ah, well; perhaps all will be revealed by January.
