Mary Worth 2222

Mary teaches an important lesson here: No matter how good we think we are, there is always room to think we are better.

  1. "It's always best to see how much more we can improve! Even if, as in my case, the room for improvement is minuscule because I am already so close to perfection. It's a tall order, but I have confidence in myself!"

Only in the peculiar mind of KM do children speak like Olive.

  2. Are Olive's legs longer than Mary's or is she standing on a soap box?

Hint to Mary on one area she could improve in: You might smell better if you changed your clothes once in a while!

  3. Not only does Olive use the word "strive", she knows the past tense is "striven". She also spends most of her time at school stuffed into her locker. By the nerds.

  4. Good point, fauxprof. If Mary was really concerned about Olive, she's wish that the girl would have friends her own age (or more attentive parents).

    Happy New Year, everyone!

  5. Wherever Mary walks, the trees become green and lush, even in the dead of winter. This is Owing To Her Innate Goodness And Kindness.

(How long has Mary's visit been now? Any ideas on her ETA back at Santa Royale?)

  6. Kit Kat guessed this in yesterday's comments! Kudos!

  7. Happy New Year, everyone! May 2016 bring all of you happiness, good health, and prosperity, and may we have a quick, (dare we hope) exciting ending to this prolix yet vapid storyline!

  8. Mary was really fishing for a compliment with the better, kinder resolution. We all know it is not humanly possible for the nosy old biddy to possibly be any better or kinder.

  9. kind, and nosier, and more intruding...

  11. Happy New Year! Eagerly awaiting the Worthy Awards!

  12. Mary's scarf has magically lengthened since yesterday, so I guess it's made of stretch-and-shrink fabric.

What does Olive have to look forward to? She's stuck with neglectful, selfish parents who can't provide decent meals and who ignore her as much as possible. Couple that with her isolation from others, especially children her own age. Mary's chipper "Be of good cheer, dear!" rings awfully hollow. I expect Mary to take off for Santa Royale any day now, carried aloft by clouds of her own hot air and platitudes and smirking at a floating head of Olive in the clouds.

That's a sour note to start the new year on - I'm sorry, everyone. As @mrvy t 8:36 AM wrote, the Worthy Awards re coming - huzzah! Happy New Year to all!

  13. Couldn't let this go by without noting that Mary's coif is apparently so slicked with some (gak) substance that the leaves over her reflect perfectly in her hair with no distortion...Downright unnatural and distracting...
