Mary Worth 2241

The look of fear in Giovanni's eyes is well founded. Olive is angry. And when Olive gets angry, people get hurt... inexplicably.

  2. Normal child behavior: my six year old niece tripping and falling at an outdoor Christmas display, crying for a minute, running to her Mom for a hug, then dancing to the Charlie Brown music a few minutes later.

Abnormal child behavior: ANYTHING Olive does.

  3. I think "Giovanni" is their cabbie. "Hey, lady! You know the meter is still running, right?"

Pratfalls! YESSSS!!! I called it! Although, I expected them days ago, but ... AWESOME!

Also, I love Mary's passive-aggressive comment of the day:
She says, "It's okay to make mistakes, especially when you're young. ... It's part of life," but she thinks, "Well, it's okay and part of life for other people; I certainly don't make any mistakes."

  5. The guy in the cap is fleeing from the fast-approaching Zamboni, which will crush Mary and Olive like bugs. Yes!,

  7. Based on Olive's expression and facial features in panel 1, I was secretly hoping we'd all be treated to a Carrie-like spasm of rage, along with mass mayhem and destruction emanating from yet an undiscovered "tummy", but alas, it was not to be. Maybe I'm just ahead of things and it will be in the Sunday strip along with a quote at the top, like often appears in Sunday editions, from the Bhagavad Gita: "Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds." That would be way too awesome to hope for...

  8. By the look on Olive's face, I think she landed on the toe of Mary's skate. Ouch..

  9. Olive is quite the perfectionist and Mary is quite perfect. Plus, they are both clairvoyant. No wonder they get along so well, despite the age difference. Olive's facial expression is of unbridled rage, though I was hoping for the platitudinous biddy to wipe out, hopefully a face plant. I really wish she would have an ouchie that would leave a permanent scar on that wrinkle free face.

  10. Mary Worth is like Mary Poppins. She's practically perfect in every way.

  11. Is Mary hoisting Olive to her feet or sitting on the ice? If she's hoisting, that's impressive. That one yoga class a couple years ago in the desert produced quite a lasting benefit.

  12. I think Olive was tripped by the evil mustachioed and hatted Trippy Trippington!

Will Shovey McShovington make a repeat appearance? What about Ken Kensington? Dear Old Shelly Cohen? Gina the Waitress and Bobby the Hockey Player? Any of those would be hilarious. Best of all would be a repeat encounter with Nola Wolvenson, my all-time favorite Mary Worth character!

    SUNDAY
quote: Who is Greg Anderson? Is he famous? Or a friend of Karen Moy?

panel 3: Someone thinks that this is a speed skating rink! No wonder Olive fell. So much tension and hectic in the air!

last panel: Mary's wisdom causes everyone around her to radiate incandescently. Uh-oh! The ice is going to start melting!

whole strip: Yes, Olive, once you take over the entire planet, you will be able to do a lot, but you will also have a lot of responsibilities. Mary might have to take you back to Santa Royale to complete your training.

Mary's passive-aggressive comment of the day (so passive-aggressive that I almost didn't notice it):
"Besides, some people grow up and are still learning to be adults ... like your parents, Olive, your parents are NOT really adults yet."

  14. I'm waiting for Mary to fall and break a hip. Then she'll be staying on indefinitely.

  15. Reminds me of my favorite Xmas movie - The Bishop's Wife with Cary Grant and Loretta Dung. No one falls except their driver, Sylvester, who abandons his cab to go ice skating with them. Ofcourse, everyone has a skating double who is 1/2 their age and weight. Classic Hollywood!
Too bad for you, Olive. God thing it wasn't Mary, though, you know those fragile hips.
