Mary Worth 2244

Using her tummy brain, Olive teaches Joey a painful lesson on the dangers of self-will and excessive personal freedom.

  1. There's only one explanation for Moy's preachy storyline. She's in a 12-step program. She's working through her issues while writing Mary's dialogue.

That's the only reason for Mary's endless lectures. Right?

  2. So glad to see Mary follow in the footsteps other great skating philosophers like Aristotle, Kant and Tonya Harding.

  3. Men don't wear wbite skates. Speaking of which, where did the girls'(loosely speaking) skates go?

  4. Yesterday it was almost obvious that Mr. Blue Pants had it coming. The little bright-eyed girl in yesterday's p. 1 was too innocent to be hit with such a KM comeuppance.

  5. OK, I think we (and Olive) have grasped the "ice skating is like life" metaphor. Time for a new one, like "Life is like going back to the apartment, packing up, catching a taxi to the airport and going back home". The moral being, all boring things come, thankfully, to an end.

  7. I had made mention of Olive's tummy-brain taking out White-skated Dude... but then re-reading everything again, Wanders actually beat me to it... so i deleted it. But honestly... it's called perspective, and I think that's one of the first things they teach in Junior High Art Class! Move the danged shadow against the glass so it actually looks like White-skated Dude is hitting an actual wall, for crying out loud.

  8. All boring things sometimes come to an end, but Mary's visit to NYC continues:

February 15: Mary Worth skates onto the ice to sub at goaltender for the Rangers.

February 22: Phil Jackson introduces Mary Worth as the new head coach of the Knicks.

February 29: Bill de Blasio installs Mary Worth as Super Duper Special Assistant to the Mayor. Says de Blasio, "From now on, everything in my administration will be easy peasy thanks to Mary."

  9. Thank you Ms. Moy for sharing your wisdom through Mary Worth. I finally understand my life so much better!

We're long overdue for a floating head of Dr. Cory as Mary contemplates returning to Santa Royale and embarking on her next adventure.

  10. I just returned from 6 days in Florida (and a ridiculous 142 holes of golf) and read all these installments of "Philosophy on Ice" in one fell swoop. It was like eavesdropping on a conversation between Calvin and Hobbes, and I don't mean the boy and the tiger. It's way past time for Mary to change out of that foul-smelling outfit and leave on a jet plane. Does Allegiant fly direct to Santa Royale?

  11. Wasn't that Mary snowboarding behind a jeep in the viral video from the big blizzard?

  12. Panel 3:

". . . However, that man fell while following the rules and skating nowhere near the edge of the ice, so I don't know why I even brought this up."

  13. Oh, and maybe we should lift a finger to try to help the poor guy. No, I guess we won't.

  14. Yahoonski, welcome back from vacation. Sadly, yours was much shorter than our Mary's. I love your comment about Calvin and Hobbes! Moy must be reading World's Great Philosophers -- Cliff Notes edition.

  15. It's almost President's Day, and no mention of Olive going back to school. I shudder to think about Evy's idea of home schooling, so Olive must be an auto-didact. Anyway, she is certainly didactic.

Don't be shy! I'd love to hear what you have to say about Mary Worth. Just keep it clean, that's all I ask. This is a FAMILY FRIENDLY blog. I don't want to moderate comments, but I will if I have to.
