It seems that the door knobs were polished along with an entire redo. The Olive purple color scheme throughout the Manse of Mary is quite chic and modern.
Panel 1: A. "A Tale of Two Cities," as paraphrased by Karen Moy.
B. One would expect that the big story about a DEBATE SCANDAL would be accompanied by photos of the debaters (maybe throwing chairs?!), not a line drawing of a boring landscape. Don't expect a Pulitzer next year, Santa Royale News.
Panel 2. Quick, Mary, turn on the recording of the barking rottweilers! You can't be too safe!
"Things seem to be getting better and worse"...Karen Moy's heavyhanded effort at foreshadowing since we KNOW who is knocking at Mary's door and what HER situation is. Since the California primary has not yet happened, I suspect the DEBATE SCANDAL will have something to do with Sanders' supporters lying about serving 100% vegan treats at their meetings.
The "debate scandal" refers to a contentious Santa Royale city council election between incumbent Jerry of Jerry's Sandwich Shop and the owner of the Bum Boat, Ronald Grump. Each is accusing the other of using ingredients gleaned from Food Team's dumpster. No Santa Royale citizen has ever voted in a US Presidential election, nor showed any interest in national politics.
Someone's knocking at the door. Somebody's ringin' a bell. Someone's knocking at the door. Somebody's ringin' a bell. Do me favor, open the door and the let 'em in. Oh, Yeah, let 'em in.
Charterstone must have been fumigated in the intervening period because I don't see any ants.
I just want to know whether Dawn will be blubbering when the door opens tomorrow. Unless, of course, Mary does stop to do a bit of polishing, or a bit more wondering about who it could be. Then we might not find out until Saturday. Maybe even Monday. There are a lot of people living at the Stone, and any one of them might want to borrow a cup o'kelk at any time.
Dawn's thought process: certain members of my peer group seem to be angry at me, and are making accusations of some sort that I simply don't understand. I had better go see a little old lady for advice.
As I recall, she was watching Game of Thrones quite avidly a few years back. She understood the violence and carnage part but apparently the sexual content bewildered her.
It looks like the moral of the story will be that its perfectly acceptable to spend all of your free time not-dating your college professor, but that the assumptions and reactions of Dawn's classmates is totally out of line. Ms. Moy, two questions: how long have you lived in an underground bunker, and what research materials do you use for your stories?
Monday: Shmoopie, I totally agree. Isn't there one adult in Dawn's world who thinks her relationship is completely inappropriate? Why would an older widowed professor want to spend time with a 20-or-30-something girl-child student?
Don't be shy! I'd love to hear what you have to say about Mary Worth. Just keep it clean, that's all I ask. This is a FAMILY FRIENDLY blog. I don't want to moderate comments, but I will if I have to.

ReplyDeleteI am curious to learn about the debate scandal.

Does Mary turn to "Help Wanted" every day to see how she may be of assistance?

ReplyDeleteI appreciate Mary' s homage to Prince, but I wouldn't have expected her to be a fan.
ReplyDeleteAnother suggestion for the Charterstone jukebox: "Ring, Ring" by Abba.

ReplyDeleteAnonymous at 9:31 a.m. - funniest comment today!
ReplyDeleteFriday: OK, no tears. In fact, Dawn looks rather serenely cheerful. Why then does Mary immediately ask if she's all right?

Since Dawn wants advice from a female perspective, why doesn't she write to "Ask Wendy"?
ReplyDeleteAgain with the pointy finger...!
