Mary Worth 2404

Yes, Rome wasn't built in a day, and sometimes comics take a long time to draw. It's understandable if you cut a few corners here and there...

  1. This whole story is dumb, dumb, dumb! Tommy needed a rehab stat, so he spends a week at home not addressing it before he sees Dr. Addictington only to be given platitude after platitude and a "See ya later!"????????????????

In real life, Tommy would have been in detox and a program immediately. Santa Royale is one scary place.

  2. First Mary's appearance changes dramatically, then she disappears. Next, scenes repeat themselves like some weird blip in the matrix....I call double shenanigans!!

  3. It appears Karen Moy should be writing comics for the National Institutes of Health or that other mouthful of acronym SAMHSA....I feel somewhat worn out and not entertained at all by the plot of this strip...I think I will throw up if Mary shows up nodding next week as Iris reports over muffins to Mary on Tommy's miraculous turnaround. Bring on the pool party, please!! I'd even appreciate Olive's brooding face more than this story, which really isn't a story.

  4. 1. Tommy will be perfectly fine while he waits for Dr. Leone to contact him with details of his treatment plan. No withdrawal symptoms whatsoever! Even the stubble will disappear from his face, and his hair will magically shrink into a conservative hairstyle.

    2. "And remember, Rome wasn't built in a day. Now get the heck out of my office, it's time for the Dr. Oz show."

    3. If June is going to recycle, she should use exciting panels like the warehouse bust, the drive-by shooting of Richie, Aldo Kelrast stalking Mary...wait, who IS Mary?

  5. Let's give June the benefit of the doubt. She's probably as disgusted and bored by this idiotic storyline as the rest of us. Having to draw the Tweedlebeedies day after day is cruel and unusual punishment. And apparently Tommy is going cold turkey with no other ill effects than deplorable personal hygiene.

  6. Oooh, is this like one of those Slylock Fox "find the differences" panels? Dr Leone has a new name tag; but I think the hand and Tommys shoulder wrinkles are just from panning down. Mad props to Aunt June for the efficiency. Soon she'll be repeating panels just like KM does with plot and dialogue.

  7. Iris had him chained to the bed for a week, didn't she?

Yes, past interactions demonstrate a repetition compulsion. ... In other words, this strip is so AWESOME, I can't get enough of it! Just keep showing me the same panels over ... and over ... and over! ILOVEITILOVEITILOVEIT!!!

  9. I think I've been bored into submission. The only remaining aspect of interest is to see which words Roy chooses to put in boldface. Or does Ms. Moy make those decisions?

  10. THURSDAY.

Oh, joy! Unrecognizable food! Let's see, looks like cat food eaten with chopsticks, graham crackers, and strawberry Quik. I don't miss Uncle Joe so much any more. Thank you, June!

  11. Although the food may be unrecognizable, it clearly is Chinese takeout (square box, chopsticks, square plate), a nod to the modern world of multicultural food by June Brigman. Now let's see her illustration of Mary getting Meals on Wheels, which is more likely to look like what M. Giella used to draw...

Yes, Iris, Dr. Leone gave us some words of WISDOM and HOPE today, but they're not working because ... Mary Worth didn't say them! Bring her in! She's only across the hall. She'll be sure to have the right platitude that will correct all of Tommy's problems! (Well, he needs Mary's words of wisdom AND a date with Dawn to fully recover, but I'm not holding my breath waiting for BOTH of those things to happen. ... Sigh!)

  13. After consuming that meal, Tommy may very well end up dead - blech.

In panel 2, what did June stick under her hair to push it up so much in back? Is her hair FEELING Dr. Leone's words of WISDOM and HOPE?

  14. Sayonara, Mary; Tommy's fortune cookie will tell him everything he needs to know.
