Mary Worth 2481

Of all the wonderment in today's Christmas celebration at Charterstone, this little party is the one I think we're most eager to attend. Tommy has now met his future father-in-law, and seems overjoyed that Wilbur is out of the picture. He even put on a clean T-shirt for their Christmas dinner out on the town just to impress Zak. And Zak, whose parents live over 60 miles away (!), told his Mom he couldn't be home for Christmas because he was spending it with his new girlfriend. "I think she went to high school with you, Mom." And Iris is totally enjoying that champagne, and super proud of Tommy for not drinking in front of her. And Waiter McStilty is awesome as well, maintaining that game face while inside he's smoldering with resentment over having to work on Christmas at less than minimum wage plus tips. Merry Christmas, one and all, and God bless us, every one.

P.S. Just a few more hours to vote for your favorites in this year's Worthy Awards!

  1. Dr. Jeff has had a makeover, too, unless Mary has a new boy toy like Iris. We finally know what Toby and Ian look like (not much different, actually). Dawn doesn't miss her father at all. And Wilbur still believes he's in Antarctica. God bless us, every one. (That last sentence was sincere. Merry Christmas!)

  2. You nailed it, Wanders and @fauxprof. Tommy even shaved. Is it too much to hope for that Tommy got a comb in his Christmas stocking?

Ian has lost some of his former girth. Maybe he's been avoiding Mary's food. I thought Mary had adopted a stranger for Christmas until it occurred to me that that is Dr. Jeff, delighted by the overflowing platter of roast beast served by Mary.

As for Wilbur, maybe it's time to reassess his travel agent.

Wishing a Merry, Peaceful Christmas to all!

  3. I'm thinking Tommy may be a floating head, attending dinner and looking on approvingly to mom and Zak. Sitting in for the ghost of Christmas present.

  5. Wonderful, Wanders! For me the best (i.e., most sickening) panel is the depiction of Toby and Ian spoon-feeding each other the traditional tv haggis.

KitKat: I thought that was Mary's famous "Baked Brown Ham."

Merry Christmas to us all. You too, Ms. Moy!

  6. At first I thought Zak was wearing a tie with his Rodney Dangerfield Tall and Fat Shoppe suit, but I now see that it's not a paisley tie, it's...chest hair.

  8. It's getting hard to recognize some these folks. Are we supposed to know Dawn's friends?

  9. And now we know that Tommy is Totally Okay with his mom dating a younger guy. And not just dating--spending a Major Holiday With. After only a hallway Meet Cute and a Salad. And Dawn really has made good on her vow to Spend More Time With Friends.

And Mary had a BOGO coupon for her facelift at Hospital, apparently.

Happy Christmas, everyone. (I voted twice!)
