Mary Worth 2547

Mary hasn't cruised since the Titanic scared her off. (She then only traveled by Zeppelin. At least until the Hindenburg disaster.)

  1. Wait!!! How did they get from California to Florida? No two week long airport TSA screening? No giant floating head in the clouds? No meddling about a screaming toddler? What is going on?

  2. This travel rush is making me dizzy. I have to sit down.....

If the boat moves this fast you'll be able to water ski behind it.

  3. I swear they already had this conversation back at the Stone, but even if not, you'd think Mary's cruise history might've come up during their cross-country flight, unless, of course, they did not have adjacent seats (e.g., Toby was in 1st-class while Mary was relegated to the old baggage section). Still, it seems odd that Toby has to tell Mary where they're cruising to at this point. By the way, do you think Toby pronounces it CaRIBbean or CaribBEan? Or, it being in bold, does she just shout out the whole world without accenting any particular syllable?

  4. If the only reason Mary wants to take a Caribbean cruise is to take a break from cooking, why doesn't she just do what Iris does - go out to eat at Santa Royale's restaurants like Diner, or New Diner on the Boardwalk, or the pizza on a pedestal place?

  5. If this is the level of their discourse, why on Earth are they vacationing together? Can you imagine the dialog whilst they share a cabin?

Toby: The small bottles of toiletries are handy!
Mary Worth: Yes. And their quality is excellent.
Toby: Ian would like these sheets!
Mary Worth: I appreciate not having to do the laundry.

    ZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Today's Boldface Haiku is titled "From The Small Talk Hall Of Fame".

    Last cruise?
    Several years. Great!
    This--Caribbean!

  6. Rats, to hear Mary say that it's been several years since her last cruise it can only mean that while we readers were slogging though an interminable Dawn/Hilton Berkes/Beedie plot, Mary was taking a cruise and we missed it!.

  7. I am bitterly disappointed that we didn't see June's versions of Greater Santa Royale International Airport and contemporary aircraft. What a bummer!

  8. In my youth I lived for five years in Brevard County (where Port Canaveral is located). I'm sure that the cruise options have expanded since then, but the possibility exists that Toby has booked them on one of those three-day gambling and time-share sale cruises, or (worse) a Disney Cruise crawling with costumed characters and small children.

You might be interested to know that Disney cruises reserve one, entire deck for adults only.
And believe me, it is well used.

  10. Good thing the sign says CRUISE, or Mary and Toby would get very lost.

Well, I sure hope that the "one-eyed, one-horned, flying purple people eater" doesn't show up or those other passengers are toast!
