Mary Worth 2556

I've learned another thing about cruising. No plates. Just plop the pie right on the tray. Every day, this strip makes me want to cruise more and more. I'm even using the verb form now.

  1. One thing Toby left off her agenda. Lifeboat drill occurs after all passengers have been boarded, but before the ship leaves port. I believe that is a US Federal regulation. Something that would have been helpful to Dawn and Wilbur several years ago, but they embarked in Italy. If I was Mary I would really want to know where my lifeboat station was, since the absence of plates in the buffet may be an indicator of some trouble with their bargain cruise.

Toby and Mary must have be going on a low-rent cruise because it appears that plates are optional.

It looks Avocado Aggie is on the cruise as well. If Mary starts giving her advice hilarity will once again ensue.

  3. Today's panel is marvelous - could be in the running for panel of the year? The Great Cruise Ship Buffet Mary's been pining about for days - hamburgers and fries dropped directly on a tray (with no napkins, condiments or utensils). Yum! Toby was right about this being a bargain cruise.

  4. Today's Boldface Haiku is titled "Thrills Aplenty, But Catered By Local Prison".

    Glad! Is.
    Other, tonight.
    Room; leaves port!
    Plan!

  5. Note to Toby: Sometimes you really DO get what you paid for. I can't wait for our first glimpse of Mary and Toby's accommodations. Pink drapes and orange and black toss pillows?

  6. Even the Staten Island Ferry has better food!

  8. I've never been on a cruise before - oops, sorry! I've never cruised before, but I have heard legendary tales of the food that is offered on those ships. To sit down with burgers and fries and tuna on whole wheat the second you get on board insults every fantasy of culinary delights previously dancing around in my head. This picture of a middle school cafeteria (albeit on board ship) looks disgusting! Is June as much of a shut in as Moy, or did Moy give strict instructions as to what kind of food has to be portrayed? YUCK!

  9. Maybe Toby is holding the rest of her food on her lap with her right hand.

  10. It looks like Toby has a carrot stick or a single French fry. Wouldn't want to indulge on the first day.

  11. Clearly Toby and Mary have not got into the spirit of the cruise yet, since they appear to be drinking what looks like tall glasses of milk instead of something like a tequila sunrise or bahama mama in a sexy glass with a little umbrella... And when does the cruise director start announcing the need to sign up for shore excursions or impending BINGO??!

  12. Even in the giant "get in line and carry your own tray" buffet areas of the cruise ships I've been on, plates, silverware and cloth napkins have been available. I have never seen giant slices of blueberry pie, though. Maybe June is doing a shoutout to Dan Piraro and his comic Bizarro.

Helpful Hint #6: If you want a really good deal, skip the glamour and go with Cheap-o Cruises! No fancy dishes to break, and no boring safety inspections, either! Caribbean waves await! They'll be washing right into your cabin soon enough!

  14. Yep, Toby. Go to the fancy buffet and get ... one french fry and a tall glass of milk. How is that sandwich, Mary?

Don't be shy! I'd love to hear what you have to say about Mary Worth. Just keep it clean, that's all I ask. This is a FAMILY FRIENDLY blog. I don't want to moderate comments, but I will if I have to.
