Mary Worth 2663

It looks like Jared has been keeping his nose to the grindstone. That thing could fillet a salmon.

  1. Today's Boldface Haiku is titled "But She Doesn't Like Him In That Way".

    Grindstone!
    Too...
    Fun; again!
    Count on it!

  2. Funny stuff, Wanders!

I guess we all thought that Jared wanted to talk to Dawn to warn her about Dr. Ned. But it looks like he's just got wide-eyed puppy love. The guy seems pretty needy. Maybe Dr. Ned ought to warn Dawn about him.

  3. Jared's look keeps changing. Today he looks like Soupy Sales.

  4. Soupy Sales, ha ha, he does.

I'm miffed that KM skipped over Dawn catching Jared in her arms and him trying to give her an awkward hug. Or an awkward smooch. Or Dawn letting him awkwardly drop onto the pavement. Maybe when they return to the office, the non-dreamy doctor will ask Dawn to work late, and then he'll offer to take her to dinner. Dawn will become the Belle of Medical Practice.

  5. I was hoping Jared would fall down directly in front of the clinic door. Then, in their rush to an emergency, the entire medical staff would run out the door, never noticing Jared as they each stomped on him.

  6. The subtext here is that Wilbur has neglected to send Dawn's maintenance check, and she's running short of food. Hence, Dr. Ned and Jared are convenient meal tickets. Bet she shows up at Mary's place for a free meal as well. When the semester starts, she'll be stalking Harlan in the cafeteria.

  7. Wow, Jared may be in the running for most annoying MW character ever. Someone should tell him that obsequiousness is not a good flirtation tactic.

  8. @ Anonymous Liz: was just thinking the same thing, though I can't put a finger specifically on why I feel that way. It could be the dopey look, the droopy clothes, the serrated nose, neediness, the nosiness, or perhaps just the whole suite of annoying traits. Maybe it's that 'being present' is his strongest skill.

(with apologies on text to Elizabeth Barrett Browning, and to Nance for format)...

    How do you annoy me?
Jared, let me count the ways
    Please go away soon

  9. This is the second time Dawn has referred to work as a "grind"... Next she'll be having Fred Flintstone make his parrot sqwawk to signal the end of the tedium....
