Mary Worth 2871

One thing Weston's have in common: Oddly strong arms.

Harlan is just the coolest professor ever, isn't he? He really is a star at the discotheque. All the co-eds want to dance with him.

  1. I was also amazed at Dawn's muscular arms. I'm sure she must work out because she's young, but what the cause of Wilbur's Hulk arms? The only thing he lifts is a sandwich.

The first thing I thought of when I saw Dawn and Harlan in Beautiful Italy is the song Disco Inferno from Saturday Night Fever. Harlan is the new Tony Manero. I expect a chubby little Italian girl to come over, wipe his forehead and say: "Adoro vederti ballare". (translation: "I just love to watch you dance".) I would include the actual clip from Saturday Night Fever, but the dialogue is NOT family friendly.

  2. I guess, when in Florence... Dawn must be ordering every meal "Florentine" - it takes a lot of spinach to build those arms!

  3. I think we might have worried needlessly about Dawn's inappropriate relationship with Harlan. Isn't that lace around the neckline of his undershirt?

  4. Today's Boldface Haiku is titled

    "Reminds Me Of Dave".

  5. And here we all were, wishing that Moy had taken to road to Italy instead of the beaten-down path to Wilbur's shower. Be careful what you wish for.

But here we are, watching The Battle of the Age-Inappropriate Relationships! May the best Cougar/Manther win!

  6. Way to go on those toned arms, Dawn. Either she’s schlepping all the luggage, or maybe doing Parkour across the rooftops of Florence with Harlan. The relationship with Harlan seems to be progressing past teacher/student. I hope she can convince him to shave that creepily little mustache that makes him look like a 1930s actor (not Clark Gable).

  7. Does Harlan dance with all the students in Dawn’s group or is he devoting all his attention to Dawne? I’m with @fauxprof - that pencil mustache ramps up the creepy factor (as does his age - ewww).

Maybe Wilbur can become acquainted with a woman named Florence at a support group for empty nesters. He needs a change (as do we, from this cycle of woe, showering, and singing).

  8. Harlan is looking creepy. And Dawn is looking ripped. It's believable with her but Wilbur's massive arms not so much.

  9. I'm going to try and briefly ignore the whole Harlan ick factor to ask what the heck is going on with Dawn's neckwear?

It vaguely resembles some sort of stacked circular saw motif...

  10. As a nod to Nance's Haiku Title from yesterday:

I would like to nominate "Man of Constant Sorrow" by the Soggy Bottom Boys for the jukebox...

  11. What goes on in Italy? Goodness!

  12. Wilbur's time would be better spent launching a campaign to be reinstated by the Santa Royale Shopper than moping on the couth about Dawn. This being Mary Worth, Dawn will be home soon enough to regale him with highlights of her trip as she unpacks her Hello Kitty tee shirts and gets ready for the next semester at College...

  13. Anonymous at 8:25, I don't think that's lace on Harlan's tee shirt. Looks like he's wearing a raggedy one. I doubt they pay well at Santa Royale College. Their budget goes into trips to Italy..

  14. @LouiseF @10:57: No sense wasting his time on another hopeless quest.
@TimP: It's holding up the sheer top.

  15. I didn't realize that was supposed to be Harlan. I thought it was a generic Italian guido who for some odd reason is wearing his jacket indoors.

  16. Partying at the disco in Italy sure beats the hiking club.

  17. Sheer top, lace tee...neither one. I think it was supposed to be a gold chain on top of a naked chest, but the colorist couldn't bring himself to do it.

  18. "Saturday Night Feeble" Starring Harlan Jones and Dawn Weston in the roles of Tony Manero and Stephanie Magano. I like that Harlan is wearing Fonzie's jacket from the first few episodes.

I am only hoping that Dawn returns home and announces that she's pregnant, Harlan lost his home to foreclosure and his job for his inappropriate relationship with Dawn and she, Harlan and Harlan's dog are moving in with Wilbur. Harlan then borrows a line from the Rodney Dangerfield movie "Easy Money" and says to Wilbur "Can I call you dad?" Hilarity ensues. Below is the scene from "Easy Money")

  19. Good eye, Nance! You're absolutely correct about that gold chain. Thank you, thank you, Colorist, whoever you are!
