Mary Worth 2882

I for one cannot wait for the "Sitting in Mary's Car" scene! Maybe Wilbur will talk about his problems! I hope he mentions that his shower radio doesn't work.

  1. Yes, Wanders, now they'll sit in Mary's car for the next two weeks and travel over the same old ground and getting nowhere.

Maybe Mary has a joint in the car. That might mellow them both out.

  2. Oh, I think we're in for another exciting moment before that happens. June's been itching to draw another death-defying, triple back flip, somersaulting tumble (i.e. Esme falling off the cruise ship) for months. The twist is that it will be Mary who falls backward and Wilbur, despite being drunk and overweight, and having no tread left on his old sneakers, will somehow be able to bend over far enough to grasp her hand and save her, thus justifying his existence in the Worthiverse. The End.

  3. Even June is bored with the strip. She used yesterday's drawings and just added a few seagulls (or buzzards).

I hope Mary's radio works so Wilbur can listen to some sad C&W songs. If not, he may try to jump off the cliff again.

  4. Today's Boldface Haiku is titled

"When A Cowboy's World's A-Rockin' And He Can Barely Stand, Shove Yer Speeches In Yer Pocket And Keep To Simple Commands".

    Please,
    Sit.

  5. Love Nance's haiku today. Perhaps Mary intends to teach Wilbur to meditate. Namaste.

  6. Transfixed, Wilbur walks into the void toward Mary's beckoning hand.

  7. I think and hope that Anonymous might be right about where this is heading. But otherwise it continues to be crashing waves below and crushing boredom above.

  8. That's an inspired haiku title, Nance! I tip my virtual hat to you.

This would be a great time for Mary to sneeze, prompting Wilbur to firmly clap her on her shoulder and exclaim "Gesundheit!"

When at first you don't succeed, try, try again!

  10. Just ... one ... little ... push! And "Ask Wendy" will be YOURS!
(Am I talking to Mary or to Wilbur?)

  11. @Scottie McW., I may be transgressing the FAMILY FRIENDLY nature of this blog in riffing off your suggestion. That said, if Mary and Wilbur go back to her Subaru Impreza, get stoned and they just sit there listening to the Floyd's Wish You Were Here, I would love it.

Keep in mind that, if Mary is in her late sixties to early seventies, that album would have come out in her twenties.

  12. Funny, I always pictured Mary as being taller than Wilbur. Actually, I’ve always seen Wilbur as Danny DeVito sized. Without the personality and talent, of course.

  13. Fauxprof, so did I. He was munchkin size next to Fabiana.

  14. Apparently it's just his personality that is small.

    Love the haiku, Nance!

  15. Today's panel is the same scene as yesterday's, and shown from the same angle, but it is not literally the same drawing. I give June full props for that. Most cartoonists would simply scan and repeat, tweaking the birds and waves at most, but June re-drew the whole thing. She didn't re-design it, but at least she re-drew it.

  16. Mary will be impressed when Wilbur yaks all over the inside of her car.

  17. I've always thought Wilbur was hobbit sized.

  18. If Wilbur does try to jump off the cliff I'm sure he'd miss and do a faceplant on the top.

  22. SATURDAY

Panel 1: The role of God is being played by Mary Worth. The role of Adam is being played by Wilbur Weston. #Michelangelo #Sistine Chapel

Panel 2: Puzzle of the Day: Are Wilbur's eyes open or closed? To quote Karen Moy, "Will he see the light?" #missing eyeballs #inappropriate hugging #Mary saves the world!

Is it too much to hope for a pool party on Sunday?

  24. With Wilbur safely away from the cliff's edge, Mary glares into his eyes and slaps him across the face, hard and repeatedly.

"Don't you EVER pull that $&!# again, you sniveling @$$+<$^&%# or I'll push you off this &$@&%**@** cliff myself!"

    -- Scottie McW.

  25. If only, Scottie McW, if only. But, no, we woke up to yet another of Moy's unbelievably trite and boring conclusions to a trite and boring story.

  26. @Maxwell Bacon, the hands instantly brought that thought to my mind. Maybe June chuckled when she drew this.

The purple cloud just below Wilbur’s face looks like a witch. Some chin AND chin!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I meant some nose and chin!

  28. Same here Maxwell Bacon. Thought the exact thing. I hope Wilbur doesn’t get creepy on Mary like Ted “What a character” Miller did. Wilbur just might, just to get a muffin thrown on his head.

Don't be shy! I'd love to hear what you have to say about Mary Worth. Just keep it clean, that's all I ask. This is a FAMILY FRIENDLY blog. I don't want to moderate comments, but I will if I have to.
