Karen May has created such a complex character - a truly believable addict. He’s over a year sober and still thinking like an addict. He better find a new reason for staying on the straight and narrow or he is headed for the relapse of the century. And none of us wants to see that. Because we’ve seen it already.
Goodness, the term "worthy" has certainly been overused lately.
ReplyDeleteAnother floating head! Brandy looks scary, with creepy eyes and pointy ears. Tommy, stay on that straight and narrow path and keep walking. Don't stop until you reach Goleta. You can find a menial job there, maybe sweeping floors in a hair salon.
The straight and narrow path seems to veer in panel 2. Heads up, Tommy!
ReplyDeleteKeep walkin' this storyline into the sunset, Tommy!

Prove worthy!
I'm hoping that proving himself worthy involves some amazing Feats of Strength, heroic deeds, and getting a better job.
ReplyDeleteA very faint hope, I grant you.
June, could I ask a favor? Please stop drawing Head Balloons. Sorry if this sounds unkind, but yours are very scary. Maybe Tommy could go for a ride on a horsie? You're really good at drawing horsies.
ReplyDeleteI’m not a violent person. The worst I’ve ever done is stomped a spider when startled by one (usually I coexist or manage to get it outdoors). But I feel a visceral desire to grab Tommy by his greasy hair and shove his face into the wall with all the force I can muster. Or his head into the toilet and flush. I believe this is called a “swirly” and would have the added benefit of washing him off a bit. I’m ashamed of myself, but that’s the effect that weeks and weeks of Tommy Beedie exposure is having on me.
ReplyDeleteHas Tommy walked to Saudi Arabia??? I don’t remember seeing so many palm trees in Santa Royale.
ReplyDeleteI agree with anonymous @ 11:49. These floating heads are creeping me out as well. Does June have a yearly quota of floating heads that she has to draw and she’s behind schedule???
We have now been with Tommy and his “I am not worthy” thoughts for three long weeks. Like Wanders, we need a vacation from Tommy. I never thought I’d say this, but I miss Wilbur and his pomposity.
Tommy and all his “not worthy”, makes me want to watch “Wayne’s World.”
@fauxprof hahahahaha. Great idea giving Tommy a swirly. I personally would like to tie him up and waterboard him, which would also clean that greasy hair.
ReplyDeleteI want him to spill his guts to Brandy and she laughs at him, telling him she was using him for pink ginger ale and rides. Then Mary will be talking him off of lookout point or even better start singing in the shower.
I disagree about the floating heads. I'm rather enjoying them. I'm envisioning a panel that's just Tommy walking along with a line of floating heads following him, all spouting carious inane comments.
ReplyDeleteI do, however, totally agree with the utter boredom with this storyline. Please have Tommy tell Brandy, because presumably then SOMETHING will happen. Although, maybe then we'll have three weeks of Brandy pondering whether or not she should accept Tommy despite his being an alky druggie. She could have a floating head of Tommy saying, "I want to prove I'm WORTHY of you."
Please. The only woman in Santa Royale who’s worthy is Mary — for godssakes, it’s her name. I’d hook my entire sobriety to her floating head any day!
