  1. Today's Boldface Haiku is titled

    "The All-Purpose Beedie Haiku".

  2. Oh boy, Mary is heavy on the platitudes today. Who even says "walk the walk" anymore?

When I first read it, I thought Iris was saying that Tommy was going BACK to school. (That would be a way of getting a better paying job to take care of Brandy and any little Brandy Beedies that come along.) Then I read it again. I was hoping that Tommy and Iris would be going to school together and hilarity would ensue when Zak mistakes Tommy for Iris because of their creep twin haircuts.

  3. I never paid much attention to D.A.R.E and other whacky anti-drug campaigns of the eighties (Just say No? Sure, seems to be working for Tommy here) but, if Tommy were to show up at my school and say that this is how much better his hair looks since he stopped taking drugs, it would scare me sober in an instant.

  4. Will he also talk about being forced to mop prison floors at gunpoint? The kids in the 4th grade will love that.

  5. I'm hoping for a return to the beach scene where Entertainer Esme walks out of the surf to tempt Tommy.

  6. Iris would have a tough time walking the walk with that bell-bottom leg.

  7. @chester the Dog: Maybe Tommy can take the kids to prison like they do with the out of control teens on Maury and they can have fun mopping the floors at gunpoint like Tommy did.

  8. Because Tommy's story is so inspirational. From addict to stock clerk at a local grocery. Aim for the stars, kids.

  9. Nance, great haiku today. Maybe a schools addiction is what Iris has, and that why'd she's been going to college for 20 years.

And Sandi Ego, I lol'ed at your comment. My sentiments exactly!

  10. The school board will be so impressed that they'll rename "Santa Royale High School" to "Tommy Beedie High School".

  11. Great comments by everyone today! The Snark Machine is firing on all cylinders!

Boy, a lot has happened in “several weeks,” especially “Scared Straight with Tommy Beedie” (a VERY special After School Special).

  12. Using Tommy in a "scared straight" program makes sense. I doubt many kids want to end up living with their mothers when they are 27, while working a minimum-wage job with no hope for any advancement.

  13. @Garnet--Stellar assessment. This Could Happen To YOU: A Scared Straight Assembly Starring Tommy Beedie would be very effective.

@Imjb 1964--Thanks. I love an Interchangeable Haiku--this one fits Both Beedies!
