Mary Worth 3032

This entire story just became about the My Little Pony guy. In fact, the entire meaning of life just became about the My Little Pony guy.

  2. Today's Boldface Haiku is titled

"Is KM Sneaking In An Ad For Those Creosote Sweeping Logs?".

    Inspire!
    Admirable!
    Every fire! Difference!
    Oh, more...

  3. Let us all bask in the . . . uh, grunge? . . . general slovenliness? . . . half-witted dorkness? . . . of the My Little Pony Guy.

Man, this week's dialogue has been even more embarrassing than some of Moy's previous low points. And it looks like we'll have to gut it out for another few months.

  4. Glad to see that June is having some fun. My Little Pony Guy is the best weird random character she’s ever imagined. Guys who dig My Little Pony are an actual thing, calling themselves “Bronys” or perhaps “Bronies”. I learned about it on “Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me”, so of course I believe in this phenomenon. I mean, NPR, y’know?

  5. I’m loving the “Broney” guy. He’s a lot more interesting than Ian and his “biggest fan”. The last time someone was “inspired”, it turned into Yoga lessons. If I see Ian and Jannie doing Yoga, I am going to throw up.

  6. I really want to see Ian and Jannie doing Parkour! Or just Ian...

  7. Thanks for the Broney info, @fauxprof. I had no idea. This reiterates what a well-informed, literate readership there is for MW & Me. Damn, we're good!

Looks like Jannie's angling for a raging inferno, not a spark. If there was a Worthy Award for Most Gullible Character, Ian would win hands down.

  8. If these walls could talk... they would say something inane.

  9. One of my Boy Scouts was a Brony.

  10. The Brony guy is probably friends with the techie who had a crush on Dawn while she was working for Dr. TooManyHand last year. Remeember him? With the Star Wars Action figures and the 1978 Gremlin? I bet he drove Brony guy to the Brony convention in Cleveland... And how come these students (Jannie especially) aren't on term break?!

  11. @KitKat, I don’t know about that - I think Wilbur would give Ian some stiff competition in The Gullibility Event. I mean, his little fling cost him about $15 grand, didn’t it?

  12. Brony guy = Zak's father. He just hasn't hit it rich, yet. He's working on Bronyiks right now.

  13. There's a Brony set against a backdrop of 1976 and I'm not even going to read the dialogue.

  14. Wow, Broneys are a thing? Who knew? Certainly not anyone in the Scottieverse. Evidently, I'm even more out of touch with allegedly "popular" culture than Moy. That hurts.

  15. I love the my little pony shirt. Totally missed it in the strip! I logged on here to see if anyone else is not loving this story line - glad I did. But still not loving this story like. Jannie is a little over the top.

  16. Anonymous @ 10:24, I admire your restraint and politeness. Saying Jannie is a little over the top of like saying Mt. Everest is sort of a large mountain, or Hell is a little bit hot. She's laying it on so thick, I'm almost wondering if there's a more sinister motive than a better grade. Like, she's setting up to get into a compromising position and then blackmail him? I don't know. I can't even imagine circumstances when O would carry on like that to one of my phone and, or really anyone. Maybe she's being ironic and we, and Ian, aren't picking up on it.

  17. Sorry, that should say "when I would carry on like that to one of my professors..." My phone decided to insert itself in the sentence.

  18. The ongoing dialogue between Ian and Jannie brings to mind an anecdote about Dorothy Parker. In the 1920s she wrote book reviews under the pseudonym “Constant Reader”. On reviewing a newly published children’s book (I regret to say it was “Winnie the Pooh”), the cynical Miss Parker wrote “Tonstant Weader fwowed UP.” I’m having much the same reaction to the current storyline.

  19. I know all about bronies because my nephew was one. Kinda sad. (Knowing about Bronies, not my nephew.) Anyway Saturday Jannie goes in for the kill. Why anyone would be crushing on Chinbeard is beyond me.

  20. @fauxprof at 8:39 a.m., I'm amazed that autocorrect let you type the Dorothy Parker comment. Maybe it fought with you, but you managed to beat it into submission? Whatever, that's a perfect witticism for KM's writing, which often makes all of us want to fwow UP.

Noreen from yesterday, you are correct in pointing out that Wilbur is way past Ian on the Worthiverse Gullibility Scale. How could I overlook "mi amor," the salsa lessons, and the emerald ring?

My hoped-for scenario: Jannie is the daughter (okay, maybe the kid sister) of Drunken Jill Black. DJB had Ian for English Comp when she was a first-year student at the U. of S. R., and Chinbeard gave her a bad grade. DJB has been plotting revenge ever since and is using Jannie in her scheme to take down the professor. If there's one thing this strip needs, it's a vicious revenge plot.

  21. A little help here, anyone? Lately I'm not seeing any images on my MW&M page, and thus no secret messages. This is not acceptable. Is there something I need to update?

BTW, Ian, it seems Jannie is not so much roused as aroused.

  22. @KitKat at 11:05, autocorrect fought me every step of the way on the Dorothy Parker quote, but I was determined to use it.

  23. fauxprof, thanks for the Dorothy Parker gift! I know it will become a perennial favorite. I can imagine Apple Mary (as she was known then) inspiring many a Dorothy Parker comment, a simpler time, minus the autocorrect wrangling.

  24. Moy has never been accused of subtlety.

    I suppose we're in for a full-blown six-panel gush-fest tomorrow. Have your anti-emetics handy.

You got the new Mary Worth phone? That's dedication.

  26. Sunday: Brony guy is back. He's more interesting than the Jannie gush-fest. He should get together with Medical assistant Jared for a little cosplay.

Wow, Jannie Brownoze is laying it on way too thick. If this was Wilbur, he'd be buying her a $15,000 emerald. Ian is such a conceited blowhard, he just likes to go homeand rub it in Toby's face.

  27. Sunday
How thoughtful of June to include the Brony Guy panel so that Sunday-only readers can study it all day.

    "Jannie Brownoze" - that's perfect, @ Regina Wolfe-Parks!

I always roll my eyes when someone says, " Thank you for being you!" Who else could one be, for Pete's sake?

Yes, Jannie is going way, way overboard. I'm hoping for an eventual knock-down, dragout fight between Jannie and Toby (bring on the hair pulling!). I bet June would salivate at the very thought.
