A widow in every port.

  1. "I'd love for you to come visit me here in Malaysia. I can arrange for your transportation. Just mail me $3,500 in Amazon gift cards to my P.O. Box and I'll purchase the tickets because it's cheaper to buy them here."

"Great! I'll do it right away!"

  2. Today's Boldface Haiku is titled

"One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, You Fish".

  3. Take a lesson from Wilbur! Overseas romances never turnout. Come to think of it, how is Dawn doing?

  4. Well put, Wanders, well put.

Today’s strip is worded oddly (what a shock, right?). Does this mean Arthur is telecommuting from California to the job “on” Malaysia? I think Scottie McW. has nailed it. Arthur’s surname might be “Zwindler,” and Estelle’s should be “Credulous.”

  5. "Me, too." What? She has lived in SR for at least a year. Has she worked all over the world?

  6. Estelle is dumber that Libby's kitty litter.

  7. OMG, I'd be deleting this guy quicker than a red hot frying pan. Working in Malaysia? SCottie McW, you hit the nail right on the head. Instead of Amazon gift cards, I see Estelle going to BalMart (KM's version of WalMart) and buying $10,000 in Western Union money orders.

Perhaps Estelle should have a talk with Wilbur concerning exercises in stupidity.

  8. Arthur's English is certainly odd but is that proof Arthur is not native to the language or is just KM being KM?

  9. Considering that now two residents of Charterstone either have been (Wilbur) or are about to be (Estelle) duped into what looks like a scam, I would say the Santa Royale County Department of Consumer Affairs is not doing due diligence on their consumer education program. That's what they get for relying on Mary Worth. Meddling does not prevention make. Great BFH title, Nance!

  10. Yeah, where is Wilbur when we need him? I wouldn't be surprised if Fabiana and her "brother/cousin" have moved to Malaysia to further their nefarious schemes.

  11. @LouiseF at 11:17 a.m., before those scams, there was Dim Bulb Toby compromising her credit card when she attempted to buy a DVD about Scotland for Chinbeard. At that time Mary conveniently dug up a Charterstone resident who was a consumer advice person. Does anyone remember that person? KM has a penchant for introducing temporary characters who serve an isolated purpose and then disappear.

  12. KitKat, that was Terry Bryson! But she was not a one time character as much as we might have wished. She came back to find true love in the strong arms of her former lover Adam Miller!

  13. @LouiseF--Thank you!

I guess Estelle and Libby don't watch Dr. Phil or Dateline. They'd certainly know better than to fall for ConArtZy's flimflam if they had.

  14. Thanks, KitKat, I'm remembering an identity theft plotline (something about a purse left hanging over a chair in a restaurant) that was in that "consumer advice" vein. I would love to find the DimBulb Toby story too. Of course, good consumer strategies are a bit of a ho-hum compared to exotic strangers in Malaysia who are about to seduce unsuspecting Charterstone residents or at least their pocket books. How DID I get so cynical?

  15. WAIT ....

We had to endure a week of increasingly nonsensical dates to get to a catfishing / scam story???

"Mr.Weathered", "Real Guts Boss","Big-Big-Bigamist", "Homeless Dude", and "Psycho Food Critic" added absolutely ZERO to this plot arc.

I'd rather read about Libby going after Ginger Cat!

  16. Thanks, Wanders! Now I remember Terry and Adam getting all hot and bothered while pinning that mugger on the boardwalk. Maybe they went off to wherever Adrian and Scott went to, i.e., Worthiverse Timbuktu.

And LouiseF, thanks for jogging my memory about Mary’s purse at the Lemon Wedge, and the Hippie Couple culprits.

    Ah, Mary Worth memories...

  17. In the next story, perhaps Libby could become addicted to catnip, and Mary guides her towards salvation.

  18. @KitKat: Timbuktu = New York
