Peggy Olson: No, Dawn is not driving an inferior American car. She's diving exactly the same pea-green Mini Cooper she was driving three weeks ago.
In fact, it's exactly the same drawing of the Mini Cooper she was driving three weeks ago, with the same speed-lines and the same shrubbery in the background and the same grass in the foreground. The facial expressions in the second panel have been slightly modified, but the first panel is identical except for the color of the sky. Oh well, it's commercial art. You take as many short cuts as you can.

At the airport... "Ze airline has rejected my credit card. My visa expires and I will be arrested if I don't get on ze plane. If only someone could lend me $5000..."
Hugo missed a chance to belittle Dawn some more - he should have said, "Oh Dawn, don't you know Skype is being retired by Microsoft and replaced by Teams" and then say that he is going to create a new team for her to join - FranceHasBetterEverythingThanTheUnitedStatesIncludingGirlfriends
Don't be shy! I'd love to hear what you have to say about Mary Worth. Just keep it clean, that's all I ask. This is a FAMILY FRIENDLY blog. I don't want to moderate comments, but I will if I have to.
Is Dawn driving an inferior American car? We all know that French cars are tres supérieur. Like the Citroën or Renault, for instance!

ReplyDeleteHappy Laborious Romance Day, everyone.
"You are asking for a long-distance relationship?"
Translation: "Why on earth would I want to do that?"
Will Hugo humor her with some half-hearted assurrances, or will he bring the hammer down? I almost can't wait to find out.

ReplyDeleteBTW, Wanders, props for the correct use of "only" twice in your comment. No misplaced modifiers for you! Rarely seen these days.

@Scottie McW., if Hugo’s going to bring the hammer down he’d better wait until he’s safely out of the car and in the terminal.
ReplyDeleteWhat I’d like to see tomorrow: Dawn perched on the edge of Lookout Point with a case of Coke AND a case of Pepsi
What we’ll likely see tomorrow (or sometime this week): Dawn boo-hooing to Mary as Mary spouts cliches and feeds Dawn something disgusting

Jana, to be fair, June did add a plane to the first panel. That's how we know they are going to the airport and not to the beach.

MissScarlet: I assumed the airplane was there, but blocked by the word balloon on August 14.

ReplyDeleteI'd say something snarky, but Dawn continually debasing herself is just sad. Bring on the hammer!
