It’s hard to read Estelle’s expression. Sadder but wiser? Indifferent but somewhat amused? Or “Yeah, sure, loser. Yada, yada, yada.” I’m going with “Who are you, again?”
Wilbur’s telling Estelle that she will be pained when she realizes that he spent months traveling and didn’t buy her a souvenir, but she can hope he’ll bring her something next time. How soon before he runs out on Estelle to interview Hurricane Dorian survivors in the Bahamas?
@ Chester the Dog. Not quite. I thought so too after reading Mary this morning. Then I picked up my cell phone and tried to hold it the way she was. If fell against my face. These folks need to learn to curl their fingertips around the phone a bit. And I clearly need to get a life. (this is not the first time I've tried to approximate the Worthiverse cell phone grip - or lack thereof ;(
Wilbur told Dawn the truth, that he was proud of his writing. Now he tells his potential love interest how uplifting the people were. Learning to hide his self-centeredness is progress, I guess. Little steps.
Don't be shy! I'd love to hear what you have to say about Mary Worth. Just keep it clean, that's all I ask. This is a FAMILY FRIENDLY blog. I don't want to moderate comments, but I will if I have to.
Don't they live in the same condo? Mary would never call... she'd just show up at Estelle's door! Be like Mary, Wilbur!

ReplyDeleteToday's Boldface Haiku is titled

Welcome back.
Mozambique?
Sobering uplifting...
Pain...hope.
Estelle learned how to hold a cell phone!
ReplyDelete@Chester the Dog: Too bad Wilbur hasn't.
ReplyDeleteThe constant pain they felt was Wilbur coming and intruding in their lives. The hope was that he would eventually leave.
Nance! Thank you! I have a feeling the pain is just beginning.

ReplyDeleteWhoa, that's a pretty deep insight for Wilbur. He probably stole it from a village elder. I peg Willie as more of a "Well, whatever" guy.
I read Estelle's expression as a pre-eye-roll, "Oh brother."

ReplyDeleteJebus Estelle — just give Wilbur $10,000 and he’ll go away! Like every man in your life. But this time, you are getting a bargain.
