Mary Worth 3415

Yesterday, when Mary promised us an "assortment of cookies," I was picturing something more like this:

But if you are going to include only one type of cookie in your "assortment," it better be chocolate chip. And June Brigman truly knows how to draw delicious chocolate chip cookies!

  1. Chocolate chip? I thought this non-assortment was Mary’s Asphalt Chunk cookies. Famous Amos, move aside for Infamous Mary.

If Madi chips a tooth, Saul’s on the hook for the dental bill.

  2. Sheesh, more strained dialogue.

Madi: "Eating is one of my favorite things to do. It's not only necessary, it's a pleasure."

Saul: "I hear ya, gals. Going to the bathroom is one of my favorite things to do. It's not only necessary, it's a pleasure."

    Greta:"Woof!"

  3. Are we to believe Saul hasn't attempted a single conversation with Madi? Has he not shown her around the place, which would include the pool? Has made no effort to find out what kind of food she likes? And has there been no attempt to talk about their mutual connection with the Nameless Late?
Even I would do those things.
And while I'm ranting is KM too lazy to come up with a name for The Late?

  4. The word “assortment” refers to the fact Mary has sneaked a few nasty, vile, oatmeal raisin cookies among the chocolate chips.

  5. @fauxprof, that would be downright nasty. If raisin cookies were the only ones on earth, I'd give up cookies altogether. Yes, I pictured something like Wanders did. Mary should have more accurately said, "I made a batch of cookies."

It would be fun if Madi said something like,"Assortment? I only see one kind here."

  6. I like drinking water when I'm thirsty. It's not only necessary, it's a pleasure!

Also, what did Mary put in those cookies? They seemed to instantly cure Maddie's depression.

  7. It’s an “assortment” because one of these cookies has the antidote. Only one.

  8. "The Nameless Late" - excellent suggestion, Tim! She was so memorable, Saul (and Lyle) forgot her name.

  9. Her name was Gram! Or maybe that was Graham...

  10. 07/07: Mary: Bright colors uplift my mood!
07/09: Mary: Being in the water's enjoyable even for non swimmers.
07/10: Mary: Simple but well-prepared food is such a comfort.
07/11: Mary: Cooking is one of my favorite things to do. It's not only necessary, it's a pleasure.
I feel like these all deserve a place in a new "Airplane" movie. But I'm not clever enough to create the rejoinders. :)

  11. Is Saul trying to flirt with Mary here? And is Mary talking directly to us in the second panel?

  12. KitKat, you are on snark-nado mode! Love the asphalt chunk cookies.
