Mary Worth 3421

I'm having trouble with the Blogger app today. No joke, it is not allowing me to upload today's panel. However, it is letting me post previously uploaded artwork. Turns out that isn't such a problem today.

Okay, it's working now. I was dealing with the tech problem for a while, but five minutes after I posted the old panel, it started working again.

My original post was simply going to say, "Madi speaks for us all." One of the reasons I like her so much.

  1. Hmmm.. this could be a great new blog concept: taking old Mary Worth strips and plugging in current dialog. Imagine Arther/Arthur yelling into the phone "Madi, why are your cloths on the hallway floor?"

  2. Today's Boldface Haiku is titled

"Be The Dog You Wish To See".

    Different.
    Thankfully!
    Nice disrupted...

  3. This is outrageous, June! You cannot simply re-use an iconic panel!

Go ahead and re-use all the fluttering doves outside an apartment window you want, and no one will care. But you cannot re-use this eye roll. You must improve on the original eye roll. Embellish the eye roll. Take the eye roll to a higher artistic plane. You can't just move around a few background lines.

This is cartooning malpractice, June. Your mother and I are very disappointed.

  4. Wow! I didn't realize this was a re-purposed eyeroll until M. Wanders pointed it out...So MANY things to eyeroll about, but I have to say, comparing a teen aged youth to a homeless dog takes the muffin... Mary, you are now officially part of the Curmudgeon Club. Dear Abby would have done a better job with Madi...Keep stonewalling, Madi!

  5. Mary comparing Madi’s situation to a that of a dachshund deserves more than an eye roll. How about Madi pulling Mary’s hat over her smug face and rolling her into the pool? Cheers would be heard throughout Santa Royale!

  6. KitKat, you said exactly what I was thinking! How insensitive can Mary be? I wouldn't just roll my eyes, I'd scratch hers out.

  7. It really is a bad comparison. Saul treats Greta much better than he treats Madi.

  8. Nothing boosts a young teenager's outlook like being directly compared to a dog that was dumped off at the pound.

  9. LouiseF, your Dear Abby comment has inspired me. From now on, I'm going to replace Mary's platitudes with Dear Abby quotes. "Madi, wake up and smell the coffee -- and muffins!"

  10. THURSDAY:

Hahaha... Cora's back. She must read this strip. SHE'LL have just what Madi needs!

  11. That Mary is a cold day-old plate of weiners and beans, if I ever did see one.

Posing with her Dorian Gray cartoon facelift smile, with those eyes like blank little blue marbles, relentlessly meddling her way into the middle of Madi's pain and like a ninja of noncompassion, erasing the kid's inconvenient feelings and smugly asserting her 'life wisdom'.

I would be less nasty about Mary if I didn't think that Moy actually seems to think that Mary is a good person doing good things.

To many of us, it appears, Madi is actually a relatively believable and sympathetic character in this ridiculously unbelievable situation AND based on all indicators, most unbelievably, she is about to become 'transformed' by Mary's interventions.

The Worthiverse hurts my head. Maybe I need what Cora's pitching.

  12. If the next Worthy Awards includes the category “Most Realistic and Sympathetic Character,” Madi will win hands down. Of course, she’ll have next to no competition, other than Mr. Allora.

Lyle will be back in a few weeks? I’m pretty sure he told Saul he was spending the summer in Venezuela. This summer sticks around until September 21, Mary. Lyle seemed so desperate to dump his daughter, he may not show up until Halloween at least.

Giving Mary a poke in the eye with a sharp stick would make ME feel better.

  13. I wonder how Cora got past the I-am-not-a-robot nonsense, while the rest of us have to click on crosswalks, traffic lights, buses...

  14. What will likely make Madi feel better would be running away from Charterstone.

  15. Wasn't it Mary who once spoke to some sad sackette words to the effect of "the past exists only by how you want to remember it!" or some such nonsense? All Madi has to do is get with the program and presto, color-loving Gram is still alive, Dad's home and Saul, Greta and Mary never existed. (I like that last part!)

Don't be shy! I'd love to hear what you have to say about Mary Worth. Just keep it clean, that's all I ask. This is a FAMILY FRIENDLY blog. I don't want to moderate comments, but I will if I have to.
