Come on, guys, settle down; it's a national day of mourning. Happy Aldo Kelrast Day everyone!

  1. Today's Boldface Haiku is titled

    "Hulk Goes On A Date".

    Hungry?
    Okay. Good.
    Every you!

  2. RIP Aldo Kelrast. We all know that Karaoke and Muffins may have saved him.

  3. You now, Aldo looks a little like Captain Kangaroo.

I’m gonna take the rest of the day off, buy a bottle from Wines Liquor and pour some out for my homie, Aldo Kelrast, capische?

  4. While I cringe at the thought of another Beedie-centric storyline, I’m willing to give KM a little credit. Over the course of the Summer, she introduced three new characters, Madi, Lyle and Eve. Wait, four, counting Max. Five, if you count banana bread. (If muffins count, so does banana bread.) That should max out the creativity budget for a while.

  5. Aldo, anyone who drove Mary to distraction like you did deserves some applause. All Ted Miller got was a muffin hat. BTW, I note that you remembered to buckle up while drinking and driving, a mixed message for sure.

Meanwhile, what unsparkling conversation between Brandy and Tommy. No one will confuse these two with Nick and Nora Charles. (Google "The Thin Man," kids!)

  6. It’s been two years since we’ve seen Tommy and Brandy and they’re both still thriving at the, what was it, Food Queen?

Okay, NOW I’m gonna get that bottle.

  7. Aldo Kelrast Day? Gee, I’ll have to call Jill Black and see if she wants to go out for a drink to celebrate. Actually, KM should have had Aldo look up my character when Mary gave him the boot. I think we would have made a splendid match.

I agree, KitKat. Not exactly scintillating repartee. I don’t think either Tommy or Brandy has to worry about being called the sharpest knife in the drawer.

    Tommy: Are you hungry?
Brandy: I had a good day at work.

Tommy: Would you like to eat at the new place on Oak St?
    Brandy: I like turtles.

  8. "I know, let's make out in front of the store where we both work, babe."

I shouldn't have read today's strip before breakfast.

Or after breakfast for that matter.

  9. Snarkadelic, everyone! My only observation is how odd that in the moment he is about to meet his Maker, Aldo clings to a (probably empty) bottle with one hand (that should have been on the steering wheel), as if we needed one last reminder how poor his judgment was. I do miss those clumsy but somehow endearing references by the great Joe G.

  10. That's what I say to MY wife, Tommie, but she just answers, "Uh huh. We've been married twenty-two years. Bring the laundry basket up."

  11. Happy Aldo Keralst Day! Here's to a storyline that was much more scintillating than this new one will ever be.

All I have to say is any story without Wilboor and Dawn is a good thing.

    1. Fair but being that this is International Hobbit Day a brief appearance by Wilbur might have been appropriate.

  13. I don't know, LouiseF. I'm not sure about your take on Aldo's holding that bottle aloft as his car plunged over the cliff. My thought is that it was probably still half full and he was thinking that in the event he managed to survive the crash, why waste good liquor.

  14. The thing that no one talks about is Aldo Keralst is how utterly choice the food was at his memorial service after — brown squares, orange squares, kind of a yellow-brown square that nobody touched — and the compliments that Mary got for the scarf she wore (it perfectly captured that whole “I’m sad, but he was a creepy stalker, so..” vibe)
